In India all the schools have been closed. I think this should be the case in NYC as well, where the coronavirus casualties are very high.

The lockdown in India had also positive propaganda value in that it made everyone understand the gravity of the situation and educate himself or herself about the issue and act accordingly, to a large extent. Otherwise most people would have ignored the issue and casually flouted the rules on wearing masks and social distancing, going on with life as usual.
