Thanks Just to clear it up- it's not so much that we eat the animal, it's how they're treated by us during their lives. They're deprived of living naturally and happily (yes, I believe they have enough intelligence to feel). A cow, for example, is meant to live around 25 years. With the growth hormones they're fed by the meat industry, they're full-grown and ready for slaughter by 5 years old. That's unnatural, and I don't think that humans have any right to meddle with another species life. Not only the meat industry is cruel in their practices though- the males born from egg-laying hens are put into bags and suffocated to death or put through grinders alive because they're thought of as 'useless'. The males born from dairy cows are sent off to be raised as veal calves, living in tiny crates, deprived of proper nutrients so their meat stays the appealing 'white' color. Not trying to get into a debate though, just offering my point of view
I just think the idea of cooking, and then biting into a huge chunk of fatty skin covered body mass is disgusting. No moral or respect coming from me, I just thinks its gross
^^ i have to agree w/ relayer..nothing more disgusting than biting into fat..*gags* although I'm not vegetarian..i'm semi-veg..i still eat some meat..and i think that is really awesome becca that you're vegan because that takes alot of dedication...i'd go home for the holidays and die, since my family eats meat..
yea but whats gross to one is perfectly normal to the other, i mean im sure theres plenty who find eating leaves and nuts all the time gross too, i mean if u dont wana eat meat fine, but dont spoil it for others who do. sure the way most animals are treated while farmed is fucked up, but this can be prevented, i dont know about U.S, but here in U.K we have something called organic range, basicly animals which are grown outside, veggies which arent soaked in shhit which makes them grow in 2days and all that, plus it tastes different- like tomatoes are alot more fragrent and juicy and tasty - i dont know, i agree about animal cruelty, but not about eating meat at all
say what about going fishing during the weekend, to some lake or something, and fishing real proper fish and eating that, would that feel wrong aswell, i mean these fish had normal lives, or whatabout going hunting and killing rabbits or deer, would that feel wrong too. i mean when u see animal programs on the tv, and u see a lioness eat that cute gazzele, do you think omg thats fucked up, what about when u see the cute little cubs eat it too, because otherwise they wont survive, is that wrong too?
I honestly don't feel that it's wrong to eat meat, or to just eat veggies. It all depends on your own body and your own needs..some just can't handle the taste of certain meats (I for one am allergic to fish & seafood so I can't eat it anyways.) and meat just tastes weird to me..it's a chemical thing I believe..some of us are programmed differently..it's normal..natural even..
^ well i hate lamb, but i dont go round sying lambs disgusting, just because i dont like it, theres plenty of people who do edit:soz i read that wrong
true i guess, do u have to eat like loads of nuts or supplements to get like all the proteins and all the nutrients ur body needs?
there's a difference though..biting into FAT..is gross..would you want to eat your own fat?? seriously now..and then there's the cholesterol...ehh i don't know..i'm not even strictly veg..i just choose to eat more veggies than meat because i feel better about myself..some people just think things are disgusting..like maybe you think brussel sprouts or other types of veggies are disgusting..
well yea bitting into direct fat is fucked, but i dont think theres many people that do this, i mean even on pork chops the fat strip i never eat, it tastes gooey and shit, but there are plenty of lean meats like chicken and turkey. and i do like veggies, almost as much as meat- maybe even more sometimes :S, and even though i dislike brussel sprouts, i donnt find them disgusting justnot tasting nice, they do look nice though
blech..i'm remembering a few times where the fat on some meat my mom cooked wasn't really noticeable and i bit into it..nasty..lol. so sometimes it's like hiding and then finding a 'surprise'...
Oh I mostly eat lean meats myself, haha. I see some valid points in this thread but I don't think I"d ever stop eating meat completely. I eat plenty of veggies and not that much meat as it is though.
eewww ick..my parents have been trying to get me to drink one glass of milk a day for 20 years..nasty..I just can't do it..do you know we are the only mammals that drink milk past infancy? and it's another animals milk to boot..me and my cousins discussed this..i just can't do it..i'd go into disgusting facts but i'm not into grossing out ppl like that..but ick..can't say much though since i love cheese and yogurt..not much of a diff..but still something about the liquid gives me the shivers..
^ hm, i only drink milk plain cuz its refreshing, but if ur really thristy, ull feel the urge in like 10min again, i dunno- i like milk products and all that, but milk is best with cereal, scrambled eggs or milkshakes
because my parents are firm believers in calcium supplements..and they didn't think i was getting enough calcium from my diet..so it was milk or caclium pills the size of horse tranquilizers..either way i chose the pills...i just can't drink the stuff
