Since this is the greatest thread to ever come along here’s the most fucked up story I’ve ever read – I mean who the fuck can’t swim SHREVEPORT, La. — Six teenagers from at least two families drowned in the Red River in northwest Louisiana after they stepped off a ledge from shallow water into a 18-foot sinkhole Monday, fire officials said. Shreveport Fire Chief Brian Crawford told the Shreveport Times that the victims, aged 13 to 18, had drowned while trying to save each other. Only one, a 14-year-old, was rescued. Emergency crews on both sides of the river responded to reports of a single person drowning before 6:30 p.m., just south of the area in Charles and Marie Hamel Memorial Park. It took fire officials about 10 minutes to locate the sinkhole, and that's when they learned there were multiple victims. Dive teams from Shreveport and Bossier fire departments, as well as members of the Caddo Parish sheriff's office, searched the water about an hour before recovering the first body. By 10:30 p.m., all the bodies were recovered. None could swim Marilyn Robinson, a friend of the families, watched helplessly as the children, five boys and a girl, went under, the Times reported. "None of us could swim," the 38-year-old told the newspaper. "They were yelling 'help me, help me. Somebody please help me.' It was nothing I could do but watch them drown one by one." With tears rolling down her face, Louise Edwards, another witness, added: "It was hard watching them and not being able to help. Some people tried to jump in, but they were already gone. It's like a nightmare. Lord please help us, please." Robinson said a group of family and friends, including about 20 children, had been out at a sandbar to barbecue and enjoy the water. She said they were familiar with the area, the Times reported. Hotwater
arty: the above is not a response to the tragic drownings (that's very sad).... but a celebration of this, the greatest thread ever!!! :eggnog:
Positive news story "Today a young man on acid realized that all matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration, that we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively, there is no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and we are the imagination of ourselves. I know of only two people who have drown and they both knew how to swim. One was over confident and did not wear a life jacket and the other was ice fishing and went under when the ice broke. There are a lot of people who do not know how to swim or are very weak swimmers. It actually is not all the uncommon.
My mother can't swim, my niece can't swim, I have about three aunts who can't swim, numerous cousins who can't, I've had friends who couldn't. It is quite common. Some people have just never bothered learning how to do it properly, from my experience mostly out of fear, of sinking or drowning.
Six at the same time with dozens of adults who also couldn’t swim standing-by watching them drown because most of them were out of shape, overweight, never learned to swim, and didn’t have enough common sense to bring along more than one life-preserver (and that an after-thought) :toetap05: Hotwater
Because I saw the news story dozens of times and the family members each admitted they couldn’t swim and never considered bringing any safety gear. Hotwater
He did say he saw the news coverage of it and it sounds like they interviewed the people. So maybe he actually saw them on TV, but they say TV adds 10 pounds to a person.
Yeah every overweight person I know, just as they like to eat, hate to jump into water and drown, given that they can not swim. Selfish bastards. Being so overweight you would think they might have more buoyancy, rather like a raft and could just float out and save them all. When around water, I always ask those who can not swim to be the unofficial life guards. If they are going to send divers in for bodies, the more the merrier. Now back to the regular response. I feel for all those who drown and I also can not imagine how terribly those who could not do anything to save them must feel. They are going to feel that for the rest of their lives and live with that. This situation is tragic.
On a more serious note that doesn't involve old horror legends...I hear we're (Canada) having a federal election this coming October. Is this true? If so is anyone going to vote? For whom? Why?
i don't know if it's true, but if it was, and i f i were a Canadian, i wouldn't vote.... i don't vote... ever... there is no point in voting... it's all rigged... waste of time...
