Today I have been sorely missing my old dreads.

Haven't been round these parts in a while...

I chopped pretty much for the same reason as everyone else, just got sick of them. I was going au naturale and just became too impatient having ugly half-formed dreads. And my scalp took a huge beating from them, very red and sore.

But, I miss those good dread days I had every now and then. I miss feeling like a big lion. :(

I've had dreads now since 2002 and I love them and take them very seriously but lately I've been thinking of cutting them.

I guess the reason is them being so heavy and me getting older (32 but avatar says 34) other than that I'm not sure why.

I was just thinking it might be time...

What's Getting Older Got To Do With Cutting Off Your Dreads...

Just to let you know. I've decided definitely to dread :D
Im on day 5 of no brushing, but I chopped my dead ends off so they didn't break mid-dread, so its not quite waist length now! Still, a good few inches past my boobs lol.
Thinking of helping them along a bit with back combing because I'm impatient!!

My pedantic side compels me to say that all hair is "dead", but that split ends will dramatically help locking, I'm pretty sure.

Back combing won't help, not cutting the ends off your hair will help. Just don't touch it, don't run your fingers through it, etc.

I think that people with long hair and neglect issues MUST have bad finger-combing habits.... my hair's getting long for the first time since cutting, and just washing with water daily, it's becomming a chore to comb them out with my fingers, if I didn't I'd totally have some decent ones forming already without even meaning to.

But I'm waiting another year, I think.

Nothing I suppose... Just harder to deal with I guess.... I don't know. I don't really want to. I was just thinking about it.
