it is a bit of an oversimplification to say that time doesn't exist. what is true of course is that chronomiters don't actualy meter chrons. there is, or appears to be, an observable proccess of aging. even this may not be the actual dementions we refer to in 3-space as the actual dimention of time. as for travelling at will though it, leaving aside linguistic paradoxes, time, like space, and possibly spirit, is its own fraim of reference, meaning in this instance that what is localized in space is not localized in time and what is localized in time, is also not of neccessity localized in space. is there a vector 'space' that appears in 3-time the same way vector time appears in 3-space? this is only a conjecture but it is my conjecture that there is. =^^= .../\...
no, time travel as we think of it is impossiable. time does not flow like a river. as someone said, time does not exsist, at least not how you think it does. Has anyone every heard of something called space/time? space/time shows how time and space are one in the same. Traveling at different speeds through space creates different time. If you travel at the absolute speed of light, the fatest you can physically go in space, time stops. Time no longer exsists. It's a hard theory to think about, because we obviously "see" light. And the light from a star takes millions if not billions of years to reach earth. But, for that ray of light, it seems like it took absolutley no time at all. It was created at the star, and the appeared here. time has no meaning for light. it wouldn't have meaning for you either if you traveled at such speeds. So, by using this concept, you could theoritically go forward in time. although, once there, there is no return. you cannot go back in time. again, at least not how you picture it. it's possiable, that there are billions of different "alter-universes" in which time affects things at a slower or faster rate. if you could somehow "punch" into one of those, you could go back in time. but you couldn't change the future of our current universe. because the past is just that, the past.
o, and the philidelphia experiment had nothing to do with time-travel. it was supposely a top secret experiment working on teleportation. they rigged it up to the ship "phildelphia" with her crew. they supposedly teleported a couple of times, and then returned to their original peir. the ship was completly unharmed, but the crew wasn't. many were immensly sick. however, some crewmembers were actually part of the ship. like, there legs were stuck in the steel. like their atoms had become infused with the ship. as far as it being true or not, i have no idea. theres strong evidence for it and against it.
Time is motion No motion=no time. The motion[deltaV] of mater describes it's rate of process. It's time rate. The base in this universe is 0.. we live JUST above that. Mater at 99.9 C processes very slowly compared to us on earth. It still experiences[subjectively if able] one second per second As we do on earth. But the seconds are of different duration relative to eachother. relativity Occam
sorry dude Time=motion Space is extension. Not duration. The amount of extension involving process of motion is irrelevant unless u are speaking of space as a qualifier to the rate of motion. 'the faster something moves through space' the slower the relative motion of that which has deltaV. the 'friction' theory. Occam
all you gotta do is get in your car reach the top speed and then ur faster than the speed of light so your going back in time so your actually not going as fast as you thought :/ never mind..i thought i had it all figured out
First of all, this thread is hilarious! Secondly, in reference to the above referenced quote - We know this to be true because of a little nonfiction movie called "Back to the Future" Thank you.
Please, please tell me someone logged on as you and entered this post. First of all, there is no way you really thought you had this figured out, right? I mean you really thought you figured out time travel? And that it was as simple as getting into your car? Secondly, after typing this out and realizing that you hadn't "figured this out," why would you post this? Why?
The speed of light...the speed of time...all I know is the speed of perception. In the dentist chair time can stand still. In the waiting room time can move at a relatavisticly slow pace. Grinding on that molar or doing a root canal...time goes crazy.
why the u.s. or canada? the swiss have been making them for years and keeping it a secret. =^^= .../\...
actualy we don't KNOW either outcome. i'm less concerned with accidently killing my grand father though, then with chronic hystarisus. (getting personaly stuck in infinite temporal recursion). to me, there is nothing that could suck worse then that. (perhapse because in one of my former lives i may have been for a while) (how did i GET out of it? i don't know that i did. i don't KNOW that i'm not still in it now. that thought has always freeked me out worse then any idea of death. one bit of reasurance i have is that all of the times in my life that before them i expected were when the loopback would occure, have in this life, come and gone without their doing so. so i guess it's ok. but much of my childhood, adolescence, and well into adult hood was spent with an almost perminent sense of deje' vu!) =^^= .../\...
it isnt possible although i would very much like it to be...time travelling into the same dimension would be impossible. think about it...if it was possible we would have seen people from the future long ago. I do, however, believe the travel into multiple dimensions will be possible some day. In a very small nutshell i believe in the string theory and i think you should all read about it even if you dont believe it it is extremely interesting
Supposing the guy makes time machine. He goes to the future, but his words fall upon death ears. The world is doomed and the worst part, the financial cost of building time machine. On the other hand, if everyone listened, the end of the world would not happen and therefore the guy would not build the time machine. Or he would build a time machine to do the opposite.or something completely different.
what makes you so sure we HAVEN'T "seen people from the future long ago"? i maintain that the rise of the roman empire was doing largely to the meddling of renigade time travellers. as for going the other way, there ARE a bunch of 'corpsickles' who just might make it! =^^= .../\...
One web site I visited suggested that we ourselves are time machines for an advanced form of life (which would make us all slaves) and when we die, the time (or information) we processed throughout our lives are downloaded into an interactive program for an historical perspective. While they can re-live our lives, they can't change or alter the time-line. Hotwater
go back in time and tell Hitler not to mess with jews and stay away from the russian winter = LOOK on the bright side Bush would had never been elected and everyone would drive a good on gas reliable and simple to fix Volkawagen .
