I went to a wicked restaurant in Alberta where we left a 120$ tip in a group of 6.

    The bill was about 700$.

my solution to that is have my hand up with no less than a $20 in my fingers...it works about 95% of the time...plus if you're good to them and dont give them shit...maybe engage in some hilarious conversation...it sweetens the deal...but thats just me...thats how i work...

I waitress, bartend, and host at different locales currently. Thank god for the guest with a sweet considerate nature. For real. I feel guilty if I dont attend to someone within the first 2 minutes.

amusingly enough, i tipped on someone elses behalf today. well, my mom and me and her friends went out for delicious mexican food for lunch and one of our party tipped just under 10%. the service was amazing, our waiter was exceptionally friendly and well suited to service (if a little green still), the food was delicious and the owner chatted us up like we were all old friends. one couple, who had to leave a little early, tipped like 1.75 for 23.somethign meal. so i threw down two loonies before leaving (we snooped at his receipts that he left, heh) and proclaimed that i was 'making up for his inadequacies' (his being the male of the couple... who, um, isnt the worlds greatest boyfriend material). it was good for a lark and make me feel better since our meal and experience was -amazing-

I always tip well. That's how they make most of their money. Besides, I always think to myself, what if they're just having a bad day?

I only tip at restaurants and then I only tip if the service is good.
What a fucking joke this whole tipping thing is though.

I tip well, I would not want to wait on people because people annoy me and I would be terrible at waiting on them...
I had one girl though who completely treated me like garbage, she thought her lame jokes were funny, I think she was trying to be badass in front of my bf.. But she failed miserably, I told her that I will give her as much as I can and maybe she can go pay someone to help her with her jokes... She tried though, she sure did try...

I don't like tipping at all. You don't like the pay? Get some new skills and a new job.

Sadly, I'm the best tipper I know.

Fuck me on service though, and I wont even pay the bill.

I tip well. Makes me feel like a gentleman. Like drunken british people should come up to me and call me gov'nor.

I don't really get the logic of not tipping well.

I don't get the logic of a company selling me a $2 hamburger for $8 plus another $3 for .99 worth of fries and some ketchup, then asking me to help pay their employees because they're too cheap to do it.

Admitedly, most bas and restaurants are cheap enterprises which don't care much for their workers rights.

I don't think I should screw over their workers more because they've come to depend on that.

I tip really well at bars. I end up getting drunk and I'm really generous when I'm drunk.

    Who's screwing them more though?

The answer: They're screwing themselves. Anybody can learn to type. Every typist I know makes minimum $12-14/hr.

I know what you're saying though, which is why I do tip, and tip extremely well....unless the service is shit. Then I'm not leaving ANY money. Period. Fuck the bar/restaraunt and the waiters.

Edit: It just pisses me off that I have to pay somebody elses employee wages.
