BraveSirRubin, I wasn't aware worker exploitation was suddenly a contest. Is it really that relevant to what Peace Attack is feeling that somebody somewhere has it better or worse? She's unhappy with her job. She is entitled to feel that.

Look on the plus side of it being "as bad as it gets": as bad as it gets means there are better things ahead.

Personally I am of the opinion that retail workers should unionize, but this is not something I want to debate or discuss right now, as the topic of the post is Peace Attack's venting, not my personal political views.

It's ok to vent, those are all frustrating things to experience.

oh, for heaven's sake, let the kid vent. he knows he has it good. sometimes people just irritate the fuck out of you and you just gotta get it out. no big deal. and people can be awful fucktards, pain is relative.

still, i liked working in retail. i liked pampering the people who came to me. i'm a service-oriented person.

 

Here in Maryland we are allowed to quit our jobs if we are that unhappy.

anyways yeah retail sucks but think of it this way..your 18 so its not like youll be stuck working that shitty job and making 7.80 an hour for the rest of your life. think of how much it would blow if you were 30 years old and making that much money an hour..think about those people who never do anything with their life and stay with a job like that

 

the place closes at 930 not 925. if i think i can find what i want in five minutes then ima go there.

 

Thats all well and good,
if she's making serious efforts to change something she has direct control over.
(e.g. - Look for another job).
If she compalins but sits idle, that's just being a whiner.

 

sometimes just being able to let off a little steam IS ENOUGH, depending on the situation. i've had some really awesome jobs, but there were a few days when i was in a shit mood that i just wanted to piss and moan for a little bit. it was still great job, but a bad day is a bad day, and we gotta let people have those without judgement. he's not whining about it ALL THE TIME. that'd be different.

I just love to give people the "worst possible" scenario thing. It gets to them.

 

They might be happy with it.
They might be working moms.
They may have had all kinds of circumstances working against them.
Shit happens.
I doubt you meant that to come across as a harsh judgement on all people thirty and above that have middle of the road jobs....After all, there are millions of us.

Venting is venting, no big deal. I hated retail too.
I make $7.50 an hour wiping up shit, piss, puke and dealing with senior citizens. Our cost of living is lower, but I also just switched to part time.
I'm ok with it.
It is a tough job, & it's a poorly run facility.
I'm probably going to go to nursing school for a lower echelon nursing position and work at the same time.


One might also want to consider being grateful for over thirty folks that work shit jobs. Without blue collar folks this country would fall apart.

 

Hey dont blame me... I always put things back.. it sucks cleaning up after other people but thats part of your job.. we could replaceyou with a self checkout stand....

you should know if you work in retail that its usually not the customers fault that their credit card was denied.. most cards let you go over your limit so they can charge you a massive fee... its anti fraud software... if you used your card to many times in a week it will be rejected.. i learned this at ever retail store ive ever worked at... so get over that.. tell them to call their credid card company or tell your company to get a better credit card processing company

If you really hate the job that much.. get a job in a factory where you dont have to deal with those people...

P.S. The customer is not always right but some people need to learn customer service skills
