the guy above me has a good point but, I'll still defend Green Day
1. Green Day has definently not sold out.
2. Even if they did that doesn't automatically make the music bad (even though most of American Idiot is just okay)
3. CDs like American Idiot is not what sells. It is a fuckin rock opera. With a few exceptions, they don't sell for shit.
4. They ain't posers, if they were they wouldn't have lasted this long or made such a variety of songs. Poser like to stick to one style such as Limp Bizkit
5. I had some other shit but, I forgot

duck: making a variety of songs or lasting a long time has nothing to do with them being posers. being a poser is trying to be something you're not. and by them bitching about all the pop-punk bands is hypocritical, because they ARE a pop-punk band. granted, they aren't that bad, but that doesn't mean that they aren't pop-punk.

 

I actually think their drummer is pretty good,for what he does.I think most of their stuff sucks,altho,I do kinda like their new one.not american idiot,but the one after that..having said that,I will go cut my wrists now so it can never come back to haunt me lol

 

It does, in fact in case you missed what I said I will repeat myself. Posers typically stick to one path and are afraid of variety because they could blow their cover.
They are popular punk but that doesn't make them pop-punk. Their music doesn't sound anything like that New Found Glory, Good Charolette, Avril Lavigne fake ass "skater" music.

what makes Green Day posers? They write about what they believe in. They've been the same people since they first came out. they may be a little out there at times but that doesnt make them posers. they may have come out w/ some bad songs or possibly a few bad albums... but they're still a great, original band that sticks to their beliefs and opinions, and thats what musics about, its away to express yourself and thats all they're doing, and if that makes them posers in your eyes then most of the great bands of our history would fit into your idea of "posers"

Greenday IS a poser ass band. They started the poser thing because Kurt Cobain was "a punk" and it sold records. They have made plenty of red carpet visits and done anything they could to get on camera. Now here is why they are real posers
They make songs to make money and sell records. The popular part of pop punk is producer fueled image to sell records. Most of these bands dont even write their own songs. Nothing is edgy or new, its all formulaic. American idiot. Tell me thats not cashing in on the Anti-Bush liberalism that was widely popular at the time.
