Someone mentioned she wasn't Christian; that she was just playing a role. So I looked at her profile and her posts, and it said she was pagan, and she had many very wellspoken and literate posts defending Hindu concepts.

Sooooo, I thought "Oh, now it makes sense. She's pretending to be a fundamentalist Christian." It's all a farce. Now I'm confused about the whole thing. And I've backed off cause I don't wanna fight with someone pretending to be a fundamentalist, like some strange hypothetical situation. I'd rather debate with people who really hold those views...or atheists.

    Catch my drift?

I never would call someone "not a real Christian," or not a real hippie, or not a real atheist. True, beliefs are just beliefs. HOWEVER....I think there is a good way and a not so good way to love. Unless you're a sado-masochist, I don't think that the idea of a loving God really comes across when you threaten people with being ass f$cked in hell for all eternity.

I think I've given a fair amount of information regarding my own theology, so I won't rehash it. I started the thread because I thought Molly the Hippy was some sort of role, and she was trying to prove that Christians sink so low that they attack other people..and I was pointing out to her the fact that I don't attack others...I don't even attack Christians who talk about hell all the time instead of God's love and forgiveness.

    Love you people :)

*nods* Yes, I'm afraid I'm a bit confused myself... Not that I would put down the Hindu, but it kind of seems that Christianity and the Hindu religion have about as much in common as fire and water. They're both necessary for life, but the similarities end there. Know what I mean, bean? [IMG]

Girl, the statement I bolded is really profound, but easy to understand. I'm gonna quote you on that one.... That's really good stuff. [IMG]

    *cackles with evil laughter*

O, don't you worry, leave that to me. [IMG]
    (just kidding, of course)

I can't stand it when people want to focus on the negative and completely sweep the positive underneath the carpet. Judgment and Mercy go hand in hand... We can't have one without the other. Kabbalah calls it "the two arms by which G-d operates." I think that's true, to a certain degree.

I think changing the most significant dates in your religious doctrine to pick up unbelievers is a little different from learning a language. The church has a very dirty past, let alone present.

I could care less when Jesus was born.

What matters to me more, is just accepting Him.

yah but you missed my bigger of point that the christian church extensively borrowed pagan doctrine such as the holy trinity and blended it into church doctrine... easter and christmas is just peanuts... the holy trinity is the 500 pound gorilla... i wouldn't fuck with that gorilla cuz you'll get your ass whooped

THIS is where you said MTH was not an Xtain.
You didn't have the ovaries to definatively say it, or the sense to pad it more with an "in my opinion," or "I suspect"

Molly the Hippie is Chief Cowpie, prankster extrodinnaire.
Chief is a gnostic minded soul who has an affinity for paganism, Hinduism and researching.

Seems your ego is big with seed.
    Both of you chill.

All religions are the same--completely misinterpreted by the people who claim them.
I don't know if this is true but damn it sounded clever in my head.

Love is an affection. It is subjective.

I don't need an invisible man in the sky to love.
