Very soon the nations of the world will destroy the great harlot (catholic church) And he says to me: “The waters that you saw, where the harlot is sitting, mean peoples and crowds and nations and tongues. And the ten horns that you saw, and the wild beast, these will hate the harlot and will make her devastated and naked, and will eat up her fleshy parts and will completely burn her with fire. For God put [it] into their hearts to carry out his thought, even to carry out [their] one thought by giving their kingdom to the wild beast, until the words of God will have been accomplished. And the woman whom you saw means the great city that has a kingdom over the kings of the earth.”
You realize that basically everyone was oblivious to what was going on (on the larger scale). Sure, people locally noticed that certain folks were missing and there were laws restricting certain groups based on race etc. but that was not unheard of (not to say it is right). Pope Pius XII was likely the person to directly save the lives of thousands of Italian Jews--hiding them away in his personal residences during Italy's occupation. There is also a sizable number of priests who spoke out against the Third Reich and who were therefore placed in camps. Sure there were those who did not, but that does not mean anything about the Church today. The Church itself is Holy, but the people in it are not necessarily. The book just seems to be the one that most closely resembles your views, and usually on this forum, when the topic arises, people are directly referencing the book. My mistake for the assumption, but as we know, when we assume.... So you cannot defeat the Church based on doctrine you must attack the sinning members? If we accept the premise that humans are sinners, and the Church is made of of humans, then sinners must be present within the Church. Again, I am not saying the actions of the priests, nuns, or bishops--but people are not the Church in the divine sense. What year was that? Have you read the concordant signed by the Third Reich and the Vatican? How have you formed your opinions?
From a former catholic's perspective and a full Polak I can care less. Hitler had a brilliant mind, if he didn't kill so many jews I think he could've improved the government and the whole society all around the world.
I will respond later, but I thought I would post this video..creepy https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-rbxov7CVi8"]Acrobats strip for Pope Benedict XVI, perform topless in Vatican - YouTube
Nah. The Catholic Church will never be destroyed. And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against.
The same way it made me feel when I found out the Bush family fortune (and many, many other uber wealthy americans) was based largely on Nazi enterprises. The same way it makes me feel to know that the United States build and used the first atom bombs and then became the world's first weaponized nuclear power thanks in large part to Nazi/war criminal scientists. There are bad people in every faith, race, creed and institution. The creme doesn't rise to the top, psycho/sociopaths do. I was raised a Catholic - I've been through the indoctrination, catechism, and quite frankly, I'm not a very good Catholic. There are aspects of the church doctrine that I do not agree with. The Catholic Church is a man made institution, and everything man creates is corruptible. But I can honestly say that at no time in my experience with the Catholic Church have I ever witnessed or experienced anti-semitism or anti-romanyism (gypsyism) or (anti-anyism). This whole notion that the Catholics somehow blame or hold some grudge against Jews because of Christ's crucifixion is nonsense - or downplay the role of Rome and Pilate in the death of their messiah. If the story didn't play out exactly as it is written in the bible, there wouldn't be such a thing as Christianity. Christ's death (and alleged resurrection) IS the religion. I wish I could say that the church was more tolerant of homosexuality, but it's not. I wish I could say that the church was more tolerant of many things and less tolerant of others - but I don't get to make the rules. I will say this: when my mother's heart stopped in the middle of the night at the hospital a year ago, and she was resuscitated, but was hanging on by a thread, and not a single friend or family member could be bothered to answer the phone at 3AM, it was a Catholic Priest who got up out bed, at 3AM, got dressed and rushed to the hospital and joined me at my mother's bedside when I asked that she be given the last rites, it was a Catholic Priest who sat with me and comforted me. He didn't know me. he didn't know my mother. I'm not even sure whether or not he knew she was a Catholic, he never bothered to ask, but he came to our aid. As it turns out, my mother survived - thanks to the skill and efforts of the ICU staff that night and the on call cardiologist, who essentially told me that my mother would not survive the night, but who did her job anyway. The Priest refused to give up on her as well, and she's alive today and working, caring for others (she's a nurse and she's been one for over 20 years). So, say what you want about the Catholic Church, or the Vatican - the hypocrisy of it. Great good, charity and humanity can come from faith, any faith. To focus on the bad, at the expense of overlooking the good, is as much a hypocrisy as turning a blind eye to the inherent corruption of institutional religions.
Its funny how most people on Planet Earth believe in fairy tales and magic.....The Great Zebedee must be laughing on his celestial throne.....
Doesn't mean anything any longer. What I do see very clearly is that YOU, MyLee Jones, have just enough knowledge of the Bible to make you annoying. Seriously, you have inundated the Christianity forums with some of the most naive, lame and obviously loaded questions I've seen in along time. Just like this thread. You asked this question as a springboard to vent some of your anti-Catholic rhetoric. At first your posts seemed genuine enough, but have devolved into this sort of shit. Well, go ahead and keep it up. People like you don't often last long before they annoy someone with the secret keystroke combo that bans members. No I'm not Catholic, I just find folks like you really annoying.
I can see what you're saying in your post, Gas. But I think this really differs per person. Since there are still catholics (and other peeps) alive that lived during those days... and perhaps that is not even necessary to hang meaning on this specific issue.
My point isn't that it isn't meaningful and significant to some people, especially survivors. I just object to this bitch trying to fan flames and start shit. She's a fucking troll and as I said her posts have become these type of loaded "let's see what I can stir up" type of crap.
No he is a great God of all things and everything and he bounces here and bounces there, his spring is magic in a roundabout kind of way....his prophet Dougal is his messenger... Anyone know what the fuck i'm talking about? :sultan:
He did not make an alliance with him. In fact, that particular pope hid HUNDREDS of Jews in Vatican City. As a result, he saved their lives by putting his life at risk. Get your facts straight.
