Here is something from just this morning, shows the volcano in the Galapagos and the recent overnight eruption in Tonga which caused a tsunami locally. I have learned since that Mexico is a major polluter of SO2 with the crappy grade oil they use. The oil in this area is heavily laced with sulfur compounds and not removed in the refining process. Large parts of our SO2 pollution comes from Mexico City...

And here in La Paz, our dirty little secret is there in the air today. Cars, diesel, and a large power plant all add up to nasty air when the winds are light. Sure it is beautiful, if you don't mind choking on the fumes... I live on the west end which is way better and not so crowded as the tourist center. However, we have tacos and shrimps to make up for it!
