    Actually, we're in extreme drought here in eastern Massachusetts so we could use the rain.

    From the start of the year, we're 8 inches below average

    Nothing changes like the weather. What other job could you be a star on the TV weather, being 50% right. Hell, it might rain and it might not. The best weather tool I have is the window right here.

    I'm North of all that, in New England.
    There's a piece of rope outside the window... if it's wet, it's raining. if it's moving, the wind is blowing. Other than that
    , the window tells all, as you say!

    Here we broke all records at 113 F today... dangerous heat and humidity they say at 85% and no rain in site. Hot wind is blowing the wires around again outside. I expect the power to go off again at any moment.

    It was off for more than five hours during the heat of the day today... we drove around a bit for relief.

    Found a really nice house to rent and went to see it, but it was rented just minutes before we arrived.

    Went back to the house... no power...

    Drove around again and found a Teriyaki Fast Food place with airconditioning. Sat there and ate for an hour and watched the world frying outside.

    Came home and the power is back by some miracle... so I have the air blasting cold on me now and hope it stays on thru the night.

    And yes the power company has been called and they say they will be here in 3 to 5 days... maybe.

    I’ve experienced weather like that a several times most especially when I was stationed in Texas while serving in the armed forces.

    And not to use a cliché (which is exactly what I’m going to do) but at least it was the dry heat

    No matey, because the sun has baked the earth rock hard, any rain you now get won't soak away, but cause flash floods, so be warned and be careful !!!

    70F and clear here in New England!
    Was just woke up by the phone; Geisslers supermarket calling to tell me they're out of the vanilla sandwich cookies the racoons love and have only the peanut butter variety! If I'd known those were available I'd have been getting them all along! I told the guy the cookies were for the racoons and they'd probably like those better. What a feast they're going to have tonight; peanut butter cookies, marshmallows, and hot dogs (something new)!

    Here in La Paz:

    The longer you live in Mexico, the more you come to learn:
    · When everyone says good morning/afternoon/evening to everyone else, life feels connected and happy.
    · Tequila cures head colds, broken bones, grumpiness, you name it.
    · Why party until midnight when 8: PM is an option?
    · Pretty much anything is a reason to celebrate.
    · If a tree is in the way of a wall, build around the tree.
    · If you set aside a special day to be with loved ones who have passed on and tempt them with their favorite foods and activities, they really do come back to say hi.
    · Rules are always optional
    · Mexicans apologize profusely for not knowing English perfectly and are so gracious when you butcher their beautiful language.
    · Sing sing sing! Music, music, music!
    · Don’t mess with Mexican women! They all have inner chihuahuas.
    · Cobblestone streets were invented by shock absorber companies.
    · There is no limit to how many people fit in the back of a pickup truck, or on a scooter.
    · Food food food!

    Here's some morning Mariachi Music in that spirit!

    Our old cabin burned down, so we live in the house now, but there was a tree where the cabin was getting built, so the big old tree became the corner of the cabin, left just as it had been! A guy I knew in Colorado had a big house with a large old tree smack in the middle of the living room with a spiral staircase around it! He called it 'biophilic'. Wish I had a picture.
    And yes, brother Vlad, you may be one of my racoons!

    We do see the occasional skunk; one used to come into the cabin for cat food. Once while I was in the hospital for surgery, he climbed up onto Bob on the bed, looking for a handout. If I can find a picture I'll post it!
