84F right now, with thunder rumbling in the distance. A thunderstorm will cool us off!

I don't think it's been down to 71 degrees, even at night, since May....

No worries, our nuke here is running at 105% cranking out noon time peak spot market megawatts to the northeast at a buck a kilowatt.

    Is that a high price???

    Hope you keep your power...

Here we lose power several times a day. Just in our house. Very frustrating. Electrician has replaced both circuit breaker boxes, and has called the power company to check if the meter is defective... we await their visit. The power company does not answer a phone, ever. You have to get a licensed electrician to contact them for you here... and so we wait.

Otherwise, in the WEATHER, we had an inch of rain yesterday and into the evening. A nice steady rain, no flooding, just the usual mess on the streets.

More is predicted for this afternoon!

Our air quality is good this morning, the usual yellow layer of pollution to the east of us. The dot is approximately my location.

I remember the one in 65, I was in Katonah, New York. I watched a fireball run down the high tension power lines across the valley from our house, then the power went. My Mom was trapped in an elevator in a tower in New York City for hours...not a fun experience for her.

65’ was before my time but from the accounts I’ve read the situation was dire. But nothing like 1977 in NYC as described on the front pages of the daily newspapers “Like Wild Dogs and Animals Run Wild”

That is about 10x the usual power price, lots of money to be made in the spot power market when others can't meet demand on hot summer afternoon or freezing winter day.

Probably a crappy connection at the meter or along the way that's contributing to your power failures if it flickers on and off and doesn't affect your neighbors. Salt spray over the years takes it's toll, common issue here along the beach. I spent hours troubleshooting a mysterious flicker at a buddy's beach place, turned out just a crappy connection at the breaker, the last place you'd look. We ended up tearing it all down, cleaning all the bus connection contacts in the breaker box and replacing a few circuit breakers. Maybe they can simply pull and re-seat the meter - those contacts should be pretty tight. Sometimes you'll get a power company guy that figures it's too hard to push the meter in and he pries the contacts open with a big screwdriver....plus if you're really pulling some juice, it could over heat there. Meter fires are scary, as there's not much to limit the power into it until someone pulls a fuse upstream, or more likely, it just burns out.

I am armed with dog kibble, cookies, marshmallows, and peanut butter sandwiches!

Seven flying squirrels, three chipmunks, and ten raccoons showed up, the chipmunks while it was still light out, the rest after nine. Went through a package of peanut butter sandwich cookies, half a bag of marshmallows, and four peanut butter sandwiches. Bob took a video and will post it tomorrow if it came out well.
Chocolate milk?!?!? I would have thought beer...

It must be really lovely to see such a wide range of animals My Special Angel Sister.:hearteyes::hearteyes::hearteyes::hearteyes:
All we ever see around here are blastard Seagulls!
These and the Dogs people walk along the sand and promenade so they can do their Blastard dumps!
That's fine if everybody picks up the turds, but not everybody does.
    This makes me MAD!
I wish I could rub the Dog owners noses in the crap!

The raccoons woke me at 5:30am fighting on the porch over scraps from last night, so I am here at 6:10 am...going back to sleep, but stopped by to say good morning to you, dear brother. There is a video of the flying squirrels; will post it later when I am up for good! Have a wonderful day.
