Thank you for that reply! I needed that information I believe it is the power meter, and they have pulled it out and put it back at least once when they replaced the main switches to the house right under the meter outside. And yes, it is often over 115 degrees F out there where the sun shines directly on the meter all day.
So was I... They say flying squirrels are rare and seldom seen, and I know why. It's because they are all HERE! They do lots of running, jumping, and leaping, but last night for the first time, I saw two of them fly-- actually a glide. From a clump of leafy branches to the tree's main trunk, one glided about eight or ten feet.
Here's a link to the flying squirrel video from last night. Our big maple tree seemed to be alive with flying squirrels all night! https://youtube.com/shorts/NibmVYTNko0?feature=share
Tonight the flying squirrel population was up to ten, raccoons down to eight, a deer mouse, and a (rarely seen) cicada! I didn't get out till after dark, so no chipmunks.
All fascinating stuff My Special Angel Sister. Wish I was there to experience all of that lovely nature. Good Wednesday morning/afternoon/evening/night to all my HIP friends. Nice to be with you. I wish you could be here too. Did you see the flying squirrels? They are really cute. Bob had to keep making one of the raccoons stay away from the squirrels food. Peanut butter with sunflower seeds mixed in it is for the squirrels, and cookies and marshmallows for the coons! 81F this morning, a high predicted of 90 for this afternoon.
Juan Carlos has saved us. Jesus gave it a try, but he failed. After a day without power...again... So we went to town and got needed haircuts! Then we noticed a storm approaching and sped home. Got home to still no power... At three PM a torrential downpour began and the power returned as if by magic. 45 minutes later the torrent was over, and the power went off again. People were out in the street, no traffic, and people were standing around talking. So we joined the crowd and found some of our neighbors are having the same power problems for days now. Someone called someone else, then Juan Carlos came and looked at our meter, then looked up at the wires. He got right up there and cleaned out a massive pile of palm fronds dirt, birds nest parts, etc. Seems all that was crossing wires, and he sorted it all out. He works for the power company apparently. So I am back happily to report on the rains: La Paz, Baja California Sur (BCS). The heavy rains recorded this Tuesday afternoon in much of Baja California Sur have caused road chaos... Around 3:00 p.m., the pass was closed in the Bellavista subdivision due to the flooding of the stream; for the same reason, Civil Protection closed traffic on Calle Colosio corner Toronja, due to the flow of one of the streams within the city. Another affected area was the Malecón, that is, the Álvaro Obregón promenade, which practically disappeared in some sections due to the amount of water that came down from the streets. There have also been heavy floods in the Roma neighborhood. Nicolás Bravo, 5 de Mayo, 16 de Septiembre, 5 de Febrero and Márquez de León streets , to mention a few, were also affected by the water that, according to MetMex Baja CaliforniaSur, in Esterito 25.2 millimeters (mm ) of water; in Bellavista 8.1 mm accumulated; Zacatal Fovissste 3.3 mm; The La Paz Centennial 0.4 mm and in the Center 8.1 mm. After the flood, a nearby stream bed which got a gully wash. But 18.2 mm were also recorded in Miraflores ; 8.3 in Las Brisas, Todos Santos and 0.8 mm in Los Barriles, it is worth mentioning that the rains will continue in a large part of the municipality of La Paz and Los Cabos during the afternoon. These rains are generated as a result of the passage of the category 1 Hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson scale, Howard, which is located —until 4:15 p.m.— 800 kilometers west of Cabo San Lucas; however, its trajectory moves it away from the peninsula, leaving rainfall and high waves.

Cold front from Canada swept through yesterday (or what we used to refer to as the Montreal express) It's a nice relief after 13 out of 16 days with temps 90+
New member joined the regulars tonight. An opossum! Flying squirrels still growing in number; TWELVE of them tonight!
Managed to keep clear of A&E yesterday, but it was close run thing - my kitchen was up to 35 o C and here in my lounge it reached 28 o C last evening even though I had the air cooler going full blast most of yesterday.
