I like tofu sometimes. I've never used it in my own cooking, but there are some places I've gotten it that make it really good, though it has to be spicy for me to eat it.
Big nay. Soy is addictive, but if I did eat soy I'd much rather eat soy cheese, or nama shoyu(soy sauce) or miso than tofu.
too much soy has about the same effect on me as too many strawberries. but sometimes you just really want some tofu. or strawberries. suffering be damned. but yeah, i have to look at a lotta foods to make sure they don't have soy in them.
S'good for protein intake when you want to stay away from red meats, or meats altogether. Why the soy avoidance KCita?
There's just as much if not more in most seeds and nuts, and products that simply contain soy are below meat and legumes on the photoestrogen (which is what you're talking about) levels. Personally, health implications be damned, if it tastes nice, and doesn't make me feel guilty, I'm gonna keep eating it.
i was vegan for a while, and soy products were where i got my protein, mostly. it didn't go so well. i lost my hair, developed horrible stomach responses and broke out in a rash. in effect, i became allergic. crying shame, though, because some of those soy snacks are SO GOOD. but even a little soy will tear me up for a while
Eh. I refuse to read a medical article about soybeans with the word "Cinderella" in the title. I'd rather read fiction without the guise of being wrapped in a book sleeve of truth.
Gee, that's a good reason to not read it. Of course there are dozens of other articles from other credible sources warning of the same thing. If you actually read the article, you would understand the title, which is tongue-in-cheek.
well, look at it this way. some people just like it 'cause they like it. no one ever REALLY listened to the harms of eggs. people will eat what they crave. no article will actually end it. but calling it a health food always made me laugh.
Well, that is precisely my point. Most people eat it because they have bought into the propaganda that soy is some sort of health food when it's not. If you actually like the taste of tofu (which I personally think is nasty) and other soy products, then that's one thing. But please, just don't call it a health food because it's not and the evidence proves it. 99% of all soy is GMO besides.
oh, i love when the kiddos say "milk increases phlegm production." well, yeah, but so does soy milk. to the same degree. now, if you require more protein and food substitutes because you're a conscientious vegan, that's cool. but when you do it because soy's "health food," well, then i giggle at you.
