are you still not getting it? His whole attitude that he's portraying is just worry-some...it doesn't seem like he's from New York...that's allI was saying.
It's not about being paranoid or worrysome, neither of which I am. You cannot be simply "paranoid" when there is evidence out there that points to what the government's real agenda is, which the mainstream media is hiding. You've been brainwashed by the lies of the media and by the lies of the government, and you're buying into the sheep mentality that so many people have been indoctrinated into. I am not just pulling this shit out of my ass. You can think I am paranoid or delusional, or whatever, but only time will tell. In 10 years, I wouldn't be surprised if our every move is monitored by Big Brother. It's heading in that direction now. All you need to do is look around you.
Actually, why don't you explain to me why there's no way you can, especially if it's a coordinated operation by several people.
The internet is run on a large scale by unix boxes processing the commands of the internet, and it would be virtually impossible to tackle these servers and truly bring down the internet. In the *nix world any vulnerablity that could be discovered in the arcitecture is going to be patched in about an hour, so it would almost be impossible to bring down the servers globally. Personal computer are another matter, if a large scale group of cyber terrorists got together and launched a clever multiple source large scale attacks, it could be much worth then the blaster worm, and cost millions in industry. No cyber terrorism isn't going to bring the internet to a screeching halt, but they could temorarilly bring down a lot of PC's and cause lots of damage.
And I should also add that if you think I am the only New Yorker who feels the way I do, then go to the RNC demonstrations this coming week. I can guarantee you that there will be thousands of New Yorkers there who would say the exact same things that I am saying. Not everyone is blind to what's going on like yourself. You're a typical brainwashed American sheep who has no clue about what's going on in this country and how the people are slowly being taken over by their own government. If it sounds crazy and unfathomable, it is.
This is what you say, but what evidence do you have that can prove that this cannot be pulled off if the operation is big enough? Just because you think you know how the internet works, doesn't exactly point to the reason why the internet couldn't be brought down for a long enough period of time to at least create some fairly substantial negative impact, like on the economy.
Well I was talking about negative economical impacts in my post, there could certainly be negative economic reprucussions of a large scale worm or virus, its happened in the past, and if it were a large scale operation, the costs could be a large burden. but nobody could really bring down the internet... its really not plausible. I'm not an expert, but you dont have to be to see why this is implausibe, anything conducted through the tcp/ip is connected through a series of servers, which make up the backbone of the internet, and every single one of these servers is a *nix super computer. There are a couple hundred of these in the states, and they are secured like the pentagon, you can't just 'hack' them... you could get a team of the top security experts in the world and it would take them hours to bring down one... they would also give away their location in the process, and the FBI would be on them in ten minutes flat, and you couldn't create a worm to attack multiple servers at once, unix doesn't work like that. It would be easier to go in and blow each of these places up with a bomb (and believe me, they're secured like military organizations) then it would be to try a cyber attack to bring down the backbone of the internet. But like I said, a large scale worm or virus would be possible, and it could end up costing billions in industry, but the end of the internet just isn't going to happen.
There are 13 and 14 yr. old kids that have hacked into the CIA and FBI's systems and accessed classified documents.
No there aren't. the CIA's web page was hacked back in '96, but it was just a prank, because the person didn't know what else to do, and the web page was hosted by the DOJ on a windows NT client, and had no sensitive data on it. this is something a child could do, and the 'hack' was renaming the page, 'Central Stupid Agency', sounds like the work of a child to me, but haing a web page hosted on an insecure client, and brining down hundreds of almost impenetrable servers is very, very different. No sensitive data has ever been reportedstolen, and if it had hapened, it would have taken a team of elite cyber spies, and even then harvesting data and brining down even one server is a totally different story.
ok well.. forget those other posts i made lol. i found out some things : they may be able to wipe down something things liek a few cities.. but originally the interent was made by the government in america i think.. where they could store information and so that a nuclear invasion couldnt blast it down. dont you realize that it is far more complicated than that? you need administrator priveledges, access to all the internet service providers- that's like thousands and thousnads.... all with special encryptions and such.. surely you couldnt cancel out the enitrie world? what with all the intelligences protecting them..
wrong. the internet was first created linking universites to back up files and exchange data. and it's much much bigger than service providers to knock down the internet, i'm too tired to go into detail.
