A Chrysler train? I had to check that out!. Designed by Walter P. Chrysler for the Detroit Zoo. The first called the Walter P. Chrysler weighed eight tons, had a six-cylinder car engine with fluid drive and could travel at 25 mph. He built a total of four. Three are still in service. From left to right 1949, 1950, and 1951. This one looks like it has a modern fuel injected Magnum Chrysler V8!
This is the old passenger train station in our town. No more passenger trains here anymore. It’s used as an office for the freight line.
Here's the Enola freight yard in 1939, right down the road from my house, the largest yard in the world in 1956. In October 1941 it processed 14,100 cars daily. One day in June, 1943 it processed 20,660 cars. It has 145 miles of track and 476 turnouts. Here's an excellent film made in 1955 showing a steamer crossing the longest stone arch bridge in the world and then entering the Enola yard. Count the cabooses!
