They are TOTAL BULLSHIT, because it's only a "hate crime" when someone of non-color attacks someone of color -- never the other way around.

A crime is a crime. Murder is murder.

Hate crime laws are bullshit. If you injure or kill someone, you deserve to go to jail. Period.

You don't even know when that surveillance footage is from. It is likely that it's is from after Zimmerman was treated at the hospital. Also, how the fuck can a person judge from grainy surveillance footage? Please, this is beyond asinine. This is why the media serves no role in playing judge, because they operate with an agenda.

I actually feel sorry for Zimmerman, because IF he is arrested, there is no way it will be a fair trial since the media has already convicted him before having all their facts.

If Zimmerman is not arrested and/or convicted of murdering Trayvon, I would expect there to be riots in cities across the country. No doubt. The media has gotten too many black people angry and emotional over this.

hate crimes are relevant because motives are relevant.

Yeah, but there never seems to be a motive when black people viciously murder white people, which happens all the time but is covered up by the media.

Hate crimes are used by the system to push an agenda that has nothing to do with justice for anyone.

Again, if you murder someone, it doesn't matter if it's because of hate or some other idiotic reason. You murder someone, you go to prison.

I know you probably have never read the Constitution or understand how laws work, but a person is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law -- not by the corporate media. End of story.

Does the motive make a differance to the grieving family? Hate crimes put unequal value on a persons life, according to how they left the world. It's unfair to the families whove lost loved ones by the hands of same race murdering psychopaths. Hate is an evil in all of its forms. If you kill your neighbor you should be judged accordingly, and the identity of the victim should be irrelevant.

They should have laws to lessen the penalty for killing stupid people.

I believe you're putting a "spin" on this.

#1: First of all,,the term "kid" has been assigned to a 17 year old, who is 6 foot something. It seems people are trying to portray him as an "innocent kid", when this may not be accurate. "Kid" usually implies innocence, which hasn't yet been established.

#2: This "creep" (I don't know the man well enough to assign him this designation) allegedly shot him because he was attacked, physically, not merely because he "looked suspicious".

#3: I haven't been watching TV (we gave up watching broadcast TV a while ago, for Amazon Instant Videos online), nor reading the paper, nor listening to any particular news programs of any kind. I only have seen the outpouring of protest displayed, in this instance, on a couple of online news sites. It seems that many involved wish to pump this up, creating an explosive situation for personal gain.

#4: How did you determine that he is "sick" and "paranoid"? Did you actually read that he has sent the police on "dozens" of wild goose chases? If so, then why did they let him go? I have personal knowledge of the fact that police don't usually just let someone go, when they've been making a pain in the ass of themselves.

#5: Why would any reasonable person "arrest" and "shoot" someone for "stupidity alone"? (That statement alone may have just lost you your entire credibility). Be serious. This is a serious situation.

#6: I'm glad you're not an officer of the law. I'm pretty stupid at times myself.

    Two guys are murdered.

One, a jew, was murdered because he was hated for his ethnicity.

The other, a gentile mongrel, was murdered in cold blood, for not handing over his wallet.

    Which murder was "hateful"?

    The jew, of course.

But wait, did the other murder happen because the thief hated people who had money, when he had none?

    I'm confused.

What is this thing called "hate"?

I hate this thread. I'm plotting to murder it.

Hate crime laws pack a social message that some people understand. The message is simple. Society will burn you real hard if you hurt people cause you don't like their religion, race, who they sleep with. It doesn't stop haters, it gives them extra time incarceration to think about their bad decisions.

If someone hurts my kid just because of his color, orientation, whatever...yeah I want them to pay extra hard. Nobody should have to live in fear of just being in their own skin because some fool "doesn't like people like that". If the law doesn't do what you want it to do Too Bad. I think it helps.

I don't expect this to change any minds. It simply is how I see the issue.

So your conjecture appears to be off at least once maybe twice.

No, the media has no role playing judge because that is not the medias role. But since the investigators fucked up so bad, it lets the media have free reign.

If someone hates my son, because he's wealthy, does that not qualify?

(hypothetically, since my son is not wealthy)

What if someone hates people of wealth, because he thinks they acquired their wealth unjustly (e.g.,,owning a business that uses slave labor).

Why is one form of hate "recognized", and another discounted?

I realize that you can't change skin color (but wait,,MJ,,), and you can change your economic status, but why should one be coerced into giving up his/her wealth in order to please another?

What about religion? You can change your religious views (though it would be considered unfair to expect one to, in order to appease another).

How do you qualify hate, in order to cover all the bases?

    I'm not schooled in this.

To me, murder is murder, whatever the case. I think the laws were changed, to include "hate" as a factor, just to appease those who were more vocal in their protestations. I'm certain that there are people who are commonly despised, in different cultures, including our own, who don't receive the benefits of this law concerning "hate". Hate is hate.

I expect it might have something to do with premeditation.

But what if you hate someone who said something that offended you, to the extent of plotting to kill them? Or someone who embarrassed you?

    It's all so confuuusing.
