Since you ignored my last response, I'll ask you another question. You seem to be harping on others in this thread because they are basing their opinions of the Martin/Zimmerman case on what you may refer to as "media bias", "propaganda" etc.

Where is the evidence for the statement that you made above? It's a pretty bold move to use the words "only" and "never" without evidence to back that dumbass statement up.

Where is it? Let's see it!

Also, I'd like to ask the others how they feel about "crimes of passion". Hate crimes and crimes of passion are both based on what the assailant was thinking while committing the crime.

i cannot judge a person place or thing i'm not personally familiar with. i do not regard corporate media as an adiquite source of such familiarity. the facts seem to be that one person killed another, and appearantly without reasonable cause. my understanding is that some sort of judicial review of the event is scheduled to take place.

It happens all the time. What do you want me to do, post every instance of when vicious black-on-white crimes occur and are covered up or given comparatively little attention, which is practically all the time. Are you really naive enough to believe that black-on-white crimes are given as much attention as white-on-black crimes? Seriously??

Let's start with this incident that occurred last April. I don't remember hearing anything about this until the father of one of the murdered students criticized Obama for his silence in the wake of this horrendous hate crime. Yet when Trayvon was murdered, the idiot jumped all over it to take advantage of it politically.

If someone I knew was murdered I would want to know why. Was it because they were in the wrong place at the wrong time? Or because they looked a certain way?

A lot of family members of crime victims later become activists. For example, family members of a murder of a hate crime involving a gay person become gay rights' activists, or something to that effect. So yes, I would say that the motive is important to the family members.

That isn't what I was originally referring to, however. Motives are important in a TRIAL and therefore whether or not it was a hate crime would be relevant in a trial.

Not that it matters in this case because there won't be a trial and if there is it certainly won't be a fair one.

I agree that motive is relevant during trial, but in my opinion shouldn't be during sentencing. I don't see a murder based on race any more hateful than a murder committed without it in mind.

Can a person murder their own brother out of hatred? Is that less hate?

I'll drop the subject, sry for getting off topic

If it was a black cop shooting a white kid, you'd never have even heard about it. I call bullshit. Even if it was racism, you can't possibly say that white people are more racist than black people. I've dealt with people saying "Oh look at that WHITE girl, blah blah blah". It's okay to talk about us like that, but if you do the same you'll get the shit kicked out of you. I'm so sick of the racism bullshit.

Anyone dying period is a tragedy, it shouldn't blow up on the fucking news because of the person's skin color.

Again: "We don't need you to do that". Therefore, all that transpired after being told that bit of info, means what followed was initiated by Zimmerman. The police" didn't need him to do it". HE felt he" needed to do it".The question as to motive will hinge on his initial statement mentioning the fact that the guy he was following was black and his stated opinions about potential trouble. If it doesn't make any differance what race the kid was,why was it mentioned? Must have meant someting to Zimmerman.

I don't think it's an accurate comparison. In the Martin case, Obama has expressed his dissatisfaction with the police response in Florida. In the case you posted, the parents wanted condolences from Obama and the perpetrator was already arrested and set for trial.

What I'm looking for are statistics about hate crime charges. I'm not looking for examples of the media sensationalizing ANY story that will be to their advantage to sensationalize.

Thats the very heart and soul of this sad mess. He was told he didn't need to follow the person. Zimmerman ignored that for whatever reason and in doing so killed a person who had every right to be where he was. Zimmerman was in error from the point that he ignored advice. Did his handgun make him brave...or complicate his judgement. I doubt if even he knows.

The bottom line is a person who had every right to be out and about his own business was killed by someone who had been told he didn't need to act. Zimmermans actions have made the country more uncomfortable and more at risk. What will the next neighborhood watch guy do when he sees someone? Zimmerman has done more than kill a 17 year old. He was in the wrong. He deserves to be tried and if found guilty, punished.

Why is that so hard to understand. My answer to that is racism. Everyone seems to want to play the victim of racism regardless of their own race. Zimmerman disregarded advice and killed and innocent person. Plain and simple.

I wonder if there's an equivalent to Al Sharpton or Jessie Jackson that always seem to show up when a white boy is killed. They're like "ambulance chasers",,lol.

Talk about racism. When have either of these "moral figureheads" responded to the death of anyone who isn't "a person of color"?

In the name of "balance", things have gotten pretty well "out of balance", IMO.

What's funny here is that the hip forums crowd always tends to put down the police, discredit them, etc. But now, it's like "Wow,,he didn't listen to the advice of the police."

From what I've read, there were other factors at work, not just his "denial" of "911 advice". No one here is accounting for the environmental factors, the time of night, the ambient light, the buildings, the resultant confusion, the possibility of a confrontation by circumstance of proximity rather than choice.

No one cares to hear the details. No one really cares for "justice" here. It's a rush to judgment.

You don't know the reason, but admit that he may have had one.

You don't know that his having killed Martin was the direct result of his having "ignored" the 911 operator. If the "reason" was circumstantial, rather than intentional ignorance (physical proximity, the route taken, etc.), then it wasn't a decision as much as the circumstance.

Again, we don't know this, nor can assume it.

Maybe there are things we also "don't even know", at this point.

The "bottom line" is that we can't assume the above, without further investigation. Rush to judgment.

And perhaps you might take into account the RE-actions of a lot of people to this, based on limited knowledge and hasty assumption, and yes, RACIAL BIAS, making the country "more uncomfortable and more at risk."

Depends upon which "neighborhood watch guy", and what circumstance, just like this case.

What he "deserves" is what any black security guard or neighborhood watch fellow would get, under equal protection of the law. A fair trial. Before that, assumption of innocence.

Maybe there are also things you don't "understand".

    Yours? or someone else's?

    Thank you, judge varapario.

Next case. (slams gavel on bench)
