You missed that it's a prayer. What does that have to do with "expressing those views in a public school"?

How do you answer a question where it's framed on a false pretext?

It was also about the north taking an economic hit. Remember that the north was using cotton grown in the south, for products.

The Civil War was very much about slavery. There are some other issues thrown in but there is a great effort to downplay the racist background.

    It's simple

Farm labor sucks, no one wants to do it unless you pay them. So if you don't pay it's good for the land owner. The bible says Cane has a mark of sin from god. The pastors alive during the Civil War says the mark is black skin. So it's OK to enslave these people. They are sin, and god only expects you to treat good men fair.

It's an idea that continues today: black people are just crime prone, they make trouble so we can't really expect white treatment, they can not handle it.

The South wanted free labor and just like the right wing now said they were just good Christians. I mean after all they do feed the salves and house them right? As good men of god do. This is why today it's still important for the right to push this agenda. The happy slave who was really just an employee. So even then racism is not real. What BS.

It's the white man's burden. We know these apes are not like us but WE have the heart to deal with it.

Well what do historical scholar's think?
What other books has Thomas DiLorenzo written?
    Let's see:
The Real Lincoln: A New Look at Abraham Lincoln, His Agenda, and an Unnecessary War
Hamilton's Curse: How Jefferson's Arch Enemy Betrayed the American Revolution--and What It Means for Americans Today

    And he's a secessionist.

    Too bad we're all nuts!

If you're deterred from reading the content based on someone's subsequent review of the author rather than the book itself, then you're deliberately looking the other way instead of seeking truth.

So you admit you never went to school?I did and I have a minor in history. You might want to take some notes grandpa. The world is not what Fox tells you.

I guess it's not a major but your comment shows how foolish you are in this subject.

I get several likes on here. Somebody is feeling it.

He does write pretty well making his points. He elaborates on his points a lot to what almost feels like repeating himself in which case it promotes skimming.

Don't get me wrong, I think Lincoln was a very good president, but not a great humanitarian. Look at his treatment of Native Americans.
That's why I stand by my statement that the CW was an economic war.

The truth as defined by the right wing? No thanks.
The dude is looked upon favorably by the teabaggers. That's all I need to know about him.
