Why is it ridiculous? If you catch it you are going to infect 3 people, they will infect 3 people and so on and so on

Then 1.5% of all those people are going to die. Murderer!

  2. This is exactly what I'm talking about.

Hillary made a "joke" about the virus today, just to score a jab at Trump. What's the use that that sort of childish-yet-psychotic "humor"?

Meanwhile the press is trying to blame Trump for mask shortages that were never restocked after H1N1 during Obama's administration.

And while all this silly bullshit plays well in the press, we have a republican running Florida who plans to have people with non-Florida tags pulled over and either turned back or placed into quarantine for 14 days. He probably learned it from the democrat in Rhode Island doing the same thing.

Trump's just the latest distraction from the press. Both parties are fucking us. If only Americans could unify against this. But, we're too easily split by the bullshit coming from a screen. So it's easy to point to a public figure and claim stupidity (Like Biden's latest claims about the "Luhan virus"). It's just a distraction.

  3. Sorry. We're trying to avoid casualties. I don't know what to tell you. That's just the way it is.

You do realize Trump had 3 years to resupply those stockpiles, and he declined an offer of early congressional funding assistance that senators made on Feb. 5
during a meeting to discuss the coronavirus. Sen Murphy of Connecticut was quoted as saying "They're not taking this seriously enough"

In regard to Rhode Island, They're only stopping out-of-state licenses with New York plates.

Spot on, WP. TDS (Trump Derangement Syndrome) is an impressive thing. I don't like him as a person either- he's a jerk- but I think he's done some admirable things as POTUS. Also done some bad things- I have nothing good to say about his environmental policies.

One thing that has surprised me here is that when people see you defending Trump, they assume you are a "big fan" of his. Nonsense. But in practical terms, we had a choice between Trump, who at least made is money in the private sector (after generous support from dear old dad) and a most despicable woman who has amassed a considerable fortune in a lifetime dedicated to public service. This year, the viable candidates are again, Trump and, most likely, Biden, a senile has been who again has "made" a lot of money for himself and his family out of a career in public service. Biden, Trump, Sanders- creatures of politics who amassed fortunes as influence peddlers are not who should be leading this country.

Trump is a bit of an aberration and I think- at least I hope- his errors will be corrected by the next POTUS. But the Dems, seeking eternally to expand the reach of government, to control people's lives more and more, to abandon so casually what America as stood for before "liberalism" made us wards of the state, are the real danger to America.

It's curious, with this epidemic on us, that those yammering for "open borders" now seem rather quiet. Trump was raaaaaaaaacist to build The Wall, to slap travel restrictions on China first, to restrict immigration from Islamic nations populated by those whose "religion" expressly desires our subjugation. Do I "like" Donald Trump? No, although when I was young I knew many arrogant jerks like him (sadly, without the money). But God Bless him anyway!

Where did I use invective? I don't even see where I insulted Tysonswood's intelligence, although his comment was utterly vulgar and stupid. Just like so many comments by people afflicted with TDS.

You do realise the "deranged" ones are those that blindly follow Trump... Not the other way around,

    No, I do not.

Many of us to voted for Trump and, in all probability, will vote for him again are well aware of his shortcomings. I don't think we are nearly as "blind" as you seem to think. When it comes down to it, my decision on whom to vote for is based on which candidate is better for America. There is no question in my mind that Trump is the lessor of evils as compared to Sanders and probably Biden.

Do you even realize that jackass Biden lied for years saying that the man who hit his wife's car, killing her and their daughter, was drunk at the time? Well the judge said there was no evidence of that. When 60 Minutes (I think it was them) challenged him on it, he wrote some weaselly non-apology to the man's family, expressing his sorrow for the pain he caused them over the years. The little pervert is a chronic liar.

But your mindless invective against Trump- and it truly was exactly that- does strike me as rather deranged.

  11. Yep, and he's expected to read 400 page bills in an afternoon while simultaneously spinning all the plates he can see, same as any president. And yet, it's impossible, so we have to accept compromises.

Your defense in this case is weird. Why was it left to Trump? Or was the plan to leave the problem for Hillary? Seriously, go back to the core of this and ask why Obama's people didn't bother with this. I'm betting it has a lot more to do with where the money went that was supposed to be used for this. But that's speculation.

What isn't speculation is that Trump did not manage the shortage among hundreds of other issues faced when handing over the white house. And it slipped the attention of his entire staff as well. A better "gotcha" couldn't have been conceived and this appears to just be negligence, on the part of Obama. After all, he was in charge at the time, and didn't do his job. But neither did any of his staff.

Also, February 5th? Of 2020? Isn't THAT just a bit too late?

  12. Oh, is that all?

  13. How long have we waited for an HIV vaccine?

But.., but your hero, the Donald said:March 4, 2020 at 5:13 p.m. CST“I’ve heard very quick numbers — a matter of months — and I’ve heard pretty much a year would be an outside number." Are you telling us he was talking through his hat again? (I think you're right; my virologist friend tells me a vaccine for corona is problematic. The best we can do is buy time until the ventilators, masks and hospital beds are ready. And I do agree some tough trade offs are in the offing to avoid a disastrous depression. The economy is there to feed us, as well as big pharma.

I like the direction we took when people were talking about a vaccine. I heard it could take around 18 months, which implies that they will in fact be able to make one. I hope it's not a case like HIV where they don't ever make one. But even that can be treated in certain situations.

Here is an article talking about a coronavirus vaccine. Coronavirus vaccines: five key questions as trials begin

You should definately self isolate for ten years, if for no other reason than to prove Trump wrong

Even if their wasn't a scary bat virus, probably a good idea some of you self isolate for ten years for the rest of humanity ;)

  20. Exactly, treatment was forced to become more and more refined since vaccine efforts dwindled to a crawl. People are certainly living longer with HIV now than they were in the 80s. But it's still a death sentence for most and a life sentence for all (I don't buy "undetectable", it just means the tests are of limited accuracy on the low end of the scale).

I'm more optimistic about one for Corona since it's from a more common family than HIV. However, it may become another vaccination everyone needs to get every year. Similar to the flu vaccine, only this will not be a choice!
