Sorry to intrude, JesusDiedForU, but I feel like I just need to point something out.

    I'll answer the question, too.

I do not deny this prophecy. It seems like it is being fullfilled. But the reasoning behind its fullfillment is up for interpretation. Do you get what I mean?

Let me give you an example . . .

The prophets of Latin America predicted the return of a god around a certain time period . . . (I did post this earlier, forgive me for not having the direct quote)

Sure enough, the description of that god matched that of Cortez. In fact, the date of the prophecy matched that of Cortez's arrival in the new world.

Summarizing: It was an accurate prophecy, but who was Cortez? Was he and the rest of the 'white men' the Aztec god? The Mayan god? No. Yet, the prediction was made of this arrival 1500 years before it occurred. And it was based on the religions and beliefs of that time.

In the same sense, I believe the Bible DOES hold certain truths, such as the fullfilment of prophecies. I do not shrug it off as nonsense.

But I hope you can see that the beliefs surrounding the meaning of a prophecy are up for interpretation. Do you see what I mean?

The fullfillment of the coming of the Spaniards did not validate Latin American religions as the one true religion. (Mind you they had more than one of these prophecies, or predictions, etc)

Likewise, the fullfillment of the Eastern Gate does not validate Christianity or God.

First of all, Thank you for your response that actually had some substance... haven't seen that in awhile : )

Second, Yes I would agree that this single prophecy alone does not validate the Bible. However, what does validate the Bible or at the very least gives great amount of evidence towards the inspiration of the Bible is that all of the prophecies to this date have been fulfilled without error.

There have been other religion's that their prophecies have been fulfilled but there is only one religion where ALL prophecies have been fulfilled and that that is Christianity... The ironic thing is however is that most Christians know nothing about Bible prophecy, which in fact is a great part of the foundation of our faith : )

By which you have now proven my statement that you hold others responsible for your own ignorant stupidity.
The answer has even then been given by me ~ Constantine's decree is common christian knowledge. That you seek to obfuscate and deceive rather than behave truthfully is the real issue at hand.

Now that we see that no one (zero percent) believes that it is right to twist the truth, the question arises ~ why is it that christians twist the truth so often, so much, so repetitively? Are they simply brainwashed and indoctrinated, or do they believe that their lying manipulations are actually true?

[IMG][IMG][IMG] 0% It's not right to 'twist' Truth

Yes. They think they are spreading the truth. It wouldn't bother me if they just stuck to thier religious beliefs, but spreading misinformation is just annoying. It seems they don't even want to have a better understanding of the things they oppose.

I believe in the countercultural love of service to others. We all have suffering, and the notion that God cared enough about us to suffer for us seems to make a lot of sense. God experienced what it was like to be God-forsaken. So in times of suffering, I share that peace in Christ. Not everyone wants it. I didn't want it for most of my life. I wasn't raised Christian. And I am equally turned off by people pushing their beliefs on me, atheist and Christian. ..not all Christians have the same theology either, so Pat Robertson and the like get me fired up too.

The Schaivo case was a travesty. It was disgusting to see this kind of argument and this happens almost EVERY DAY with so many families.

I agree: lawyers are the only ones that benefit.

God's word? God doesn't want us to suffer. God's word promises that he loves us...divorced or no ;)

As far as I am aware, there are no discrepencies with the Mayan Calender's predictions about how the future would unfold (Now the past for us). I am finding it difficult to locate a detailed, well written article or book on it but I'm trying. However, we can observe how it predicted the modern times to unfold: The ending of this 'age' and the dawn of a new baktun, a new world. The ending of this age, this cycle (baktun), is written to be of catastrophe. The few years leading up to 2012 will be this 'worlds' death, and the next worlds beginning. Hm, well I am sure that many can agree that this civilization is well on its way out. So, there is consistency there.

Nevertheless, does 100% accuracy = 100% validity? What if the accuracy is caused by something else other than God?

I would say DETAILED 100% accuracy gives great evidence towards a God.

Well, reasonably I must agree with you. It is a definitely helps support your beliefs. In fact, greatly supports . . . If of course it is truly detailed 100% accuracy.

However, should there be variables that suggest other possibilities, perhaps not contrary but still different, I would look into them. I have a feeling there are variables.

More and more so do we understand them.

I am not sure how detailed the Mayan Calender is. I'm not sure if I can trust websites for accurate info. Again, I'll get back to you.

I'm glad you realize that detailed, completely accurate predictions act as great evidence towards your argument - but do not prove it. A single variable could point the reason for such accuracy in another direction.

Secondly, where are all these accurate predictions? Are they open for interpretation? I know the Gate one can be considered accurate, but are all the Biblical prophecies accurately detailed 100%?

On the internet alone, there are so many websites that give light to these accurate fulfilled prophecies. If you are looking to find information on evidence of the Bible just go online there are SO many sites. Just go to a site like www.yahoo.com and search for "proof of the Bible" or "How do you know the bible is true?" Also, there many books written about devine inspiration but I believe www.Christiananswers.net says it best:

There have been hundreds of books written on the subject of the evidences of the divine inspiration of the Bible, and these evidences are many and varied. Most people today, unfortunately, have not read any of these books. In fact, few have even read the Bible itself! Thus, many people tend to go along with the popular delusion that the Bible is full of mistakes and is no longer relevant to our modern world.

Sure they are open for interpretation but most of them are pretty clear (ie the prophecies concerning Israel's rebirth). Also, it is varied, some prophecies are very detailed and some are vague but none have been wrong up to this date and that is something worth bragging about.

Burn, good questions. If you have anymore keep them coming : )

    Okay, thankyou.

But just as a starting thought to this: Anything open for interpretation cannot be 100% accurate objectively, if it fits into 100% subjective views. So, it questions the complete, accurate validity of the Bible. If there is a hint of ambiguity, the subject cannot be considered any more or less accurate than the predictions of Nostra Damus.

Everything can be interpreted. People can interpret the prophecies any different way but there is only one true way. One can figure the true meaning by asking God to lead them and not by another pastor or theologian. God reveals truth to seekers of truth.

I have great trouble with this MollyBloom, and this Christian paradox is the one that makes least sense to me ~
"the notion that God cared enough about us to suffer for us seems to make a lot of sense. God experienced what it was like to be God-forsaken"
For mine, such a paradox can only be answered if God actually became Satan (the essence of evil and absence of love variety).

Except when "seekers" pre-determine where "truth" actually comes from.

The seeker reveals Truth in the way the seeker wishes Truth to be. Is this not possible? That we have created this "revelation" in our mind? We can only find what we are open to find. We can only go where we are open to go. We can only be revealed to what we wish to be revealed. The seeker creates the truth that he or she desires, and thus the revelation is an extension of the seeker.

The seeker IS the God he sees, through the paradoxal mirror of the mind.

If you believe Christianity twists truth, or even if you don't (I am not debating one way or another), then please tell me, what is this truth you value so highly?

The Holy Spirit reveals the truth to those trully seeking and that is why people from the opposite sides of the globe knows who the true God is without being "witnessed" to. In the Bible, the Holy Spirit can lead you to the truth of the scriptures.

On a spiritual note, Demons exist and there is only one name that can cast them out and that name is Jesus Christ.

"But a natural man does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually appraised" (1 Cor. 1:14).

I did some googling and found this:

Yes, the author of Matthew did twist the truth in order to fit Jesus' birth into a prophesy. However, there are hundreds of prophesies in the Old Testament about the Messiah.

Could these examples be pure coincidences? It is next to impossible. More likely, however, could they have been added into the text AFTER Jesus lived?

The answer is no. The discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls proved that the prophecies were written 400 to 1,000 years before they were fulfilled.

Or, could the authors of the gospels have simply LIED about the events? This is something you must simply decide for yourself. It is a definite possibility . . . the only argument I have against this is consistency. Each of the four gospels has the same general message that fulfills each prophecy. Pathetic, I know, but it's all I've got to defend Christianity.

Needless to say, the religion has a number of flaws, but I tend to favor the idea that MAN, not God, is responsible for them.

How did matthew "twist" the truth to fit Jesus birth into a prophecy?

What are some of these flaws that you have encountered?
