I think I was 16 years old. God that was simple. Here I was worrying that you might ask a question that I might not want to answer.
Like a staring contest? I can't last. I start laughing or get distracted. So yeah, I guess I usually lose (but mostly because I don't take them very seriously).
I meant more like, in public, or with someone in your regular relationships. Not a contest, but who initiates eye-contact and sustains it longer usually. It's the only question worth asking...
Hmmm... Why are you asking me this question? Eye contact (especially sustained) is stressful for me. It depends who I'm with, but I don't think I'd win. I tend to avoid eye contact with certain people. Other people I can maintain it with just fine. Great question.... but a weird one.
many species react to eye contact and smiles as threats and challange. to me, well, i can do it, but it seems totally unnatural, and unless its someone i already know and know how they feel about it, just a trifle impolite. =^^= .../\...
I know cats hate it. But they are all crypto-autistic and stuff. As for humans, I think there are studies about eye-contact and touch in child neroulogical development. It's a gesture of intimacy or aggression. Depending on, well, how intimate you are or want to be.
yes, children really do need touch, and we all continue to need hugs once in a while all our lives. not all the time, but definately once in a while. hugs, incidently, i like a lot more the eye contact. i mean the eye contact thing can be fun sometimes too, but usually, not always but usually, just feels kind of invasive. i think that's just my own wierdness though and not something anyone needs to expect each other to feel. i just don't really understand as much about that in humans. =^^= .../\...
