i told my mother in law, jokingly, that i didn't know how to make salad. she took me so seriously and so studiously set about teaching me how to make a salad that i've been forever stuck with salad duty.

typically, though, my lies are obvious and more along the lines of tall tales for entertainment value, so i don't feel stuck with them.
