but i dont wanna go 'on a diet' thats lame and stupid. and i will never ever stick to it. i just need quick, easy cheap healthy foods
Micha... i'm in the same boat with you.. tryin to get in shape.. and whatnot.. like i said.. Eric's(the other eric aka skier) photos have really inspired me.. cuz im basically the same size he was in his old pics he posted.. probably even up on those by a good 10-20lbs... he hooked me up with a good website that i'm gonna take full advantage of after i get a scale.. it will be nice to actually look at something and SEE that there is a change.. instead of looking in the mirror and not really seeing it visually at first... PS: im not gonna nag about it either.. but im gonna say it.. QUIT SMOKING.. you want to get in shape.. and not be sluggish about it.. toss the squares... i've been going on 1mi+ walks and i don't get winded in the least.. when before i would walk two blocks and would be breathing harder
by definition a "diet" is whatever you eat.. so if you are eating you are on a "diet"... just swap candy for natures candy.. fruit... also there are a lot of foods out there in which it technically takes more calories to digest than what is actually in the food.. like apples and celery
if you dont want to be sluggish eliminate fast food, sugar, candy, etc and you'll be really surprised how much energy you have.
yeah i know.. it wasn't something i could really force myself to do.. it more or less just happened.. only took 15 years and numerous failed attempts to quit
a lot of it starts at the store. stick around the fresh produce aisles and avoid the shit food aisles. also, put fruit and veggies out in the open, dont hide them in your fridge drawer where you will forget about them. when you get hungry, the right option will be sitting in front of you. also, if you smoke herb like me, reward yourself for working out by toking up. youll already be naturally high from endorphin release, and youll get doubly high because your heartrate is up and blood is pumping faster. it may also help to write out your exercise plan on a wipe board or something you can put on your wall so you can be constantly reminded. get a workout buddy too. theyll push you harder than you will push yourself, and vice versa. hope this helps, hope to see your new sexyness soon!
chicken, tuna, salmon, lean cuts of beef (think 90% or higher - meaning 10% or less is fat - then you can just rinse in water to get rid of more fat....some want the fat and some will be good for you), cottage cheese and greek yogurt, bison meat, turkey, nuts (also high in fat content, which is good and bad - good because of healthy fats, bad if you don't know when to stop eating them because it will boost your calorie intake up a lot)
if you're looking to lose weight your best to avoid food that's going to sit and fester in your stomach for days.. like red meats
yea ive had good results with them, i saw my gains jump after drinking 2 shakes a day, one rigt after working out and one right before bed (these are the times when your muscles are doing the most rebuilding)
they are fine. if you are using whey protein, buffer it up with some fibrous carbs and fats. there are great new proteins out there that are getting pretty big - pea protein fi you can handle the taste and texture (i love it as a stand alone protein powder) - as well as casein protein. you got your egg protein mixes. just remember they are a supplement - get the rest of what you eat dialed as much as possible in before getting a powder
So would it make sense for a general rule that you eat no carbs after say 4pm and load up on proteins past then?
i dont know if thats necessarily true, i think carbs at night are ok, coming from an uber stoner who eats 3 bowls of cereal every night before bed, i havent gained any weight. but it may not be the same for everyone
i've always read that eating carbs later in the day is bad.. seeing as usually that energy is not spent.. and then those sugars get stored as fats
