The government doesn't have to say we have rights for us to have them, you know. I'm sick and tired of the "it's a privilege, not a right" argument. What's so wrong with fighting for privileges?
The idea that you must be given rights by a government, and that the government may decide when to shrink these rights, like by keeping tabs on who watches porn, is reverse logic employed by fascists and their sympathizers. "well things suck.... but it could be even WORSE... keep talking, and we might take MORE rights. You see how much it sucks in the sudan? that automatically makes it all better when things are wrong here"
Unless you believe in natural rights, a right IS something the government has given. A right is something you claim against someone who has a corresponding obligation. There is no right to watch porn because no one has an obligation to provide it. That's why this situation is better described by freedoms and government interference with freedom.
well... I suppose that you should be able to buy alchol and tabacco online without an I.D. as well. (I`m fully aware that this isn`t done, and isn`t convinient. But if I were to put up a website that did it, I guarentee you I would make a lot of money.) I do if fact, not know how the UK`s nanny state works. Why would they raid you for legaly watching porn? harsh man.. you just said that watching whatever you want to watch is a right, and that is obviously not the case. I wasn`t trying to compare kiddie porn with adult porn. Do you have kids? Do you watch them litterally every minute of every day? They aren`t allowed to touch the computer unless youre in the room? I figured out how to erase internet history when I was 10 years old.
haha! yeah, cos there ain't enough frustration in the country, might as well add sexual frustration ... why don't they just introduce a wanking tax too while they are at it??? oh wait, it's cos the tories are the biggest wankers we got, it'd cost them a fortune! :mickey:
There's software that will watch your shit, all day long and then some. And even it can be circumvented a massive number of ways, I figured out about proxies and other things of that nature when I was LESS than ten years old. All this does is hurt the of age, average porn consumer. Kids aren't using credit cards to buy porn site subscriptions, like the sorts of sites that will be blocked. By that same token, you CAN buy alcohol, tobacco, and other adult products all over the internet, generally having a credit card that verifies you as of age, or having the authorization of someone who is of age, is all you need, and all you should need. You should be able to watch whatever you please, until it hurts others. My right to punch you in the nose ends where your nose begins, and vice versa. As child pornography hurts children, you having the right to it would infringe THEIR rights.
This is another invalid argument that people need to stop using, thanks for pointing that out as well
Exactly! Why don't parents take responsibility for their own kids? And I'm sorry, but the child pornography argument is just stupid. Watching consenting adults get naked and have sex is not equivalent to watching a child being raped.
I can see it now.. 40,000 mad students over tuition hike: That havent masturbated in 3 months.. :leaving:
I try not to remember what life was like before internet porn. It's like thinking about what life was like before indoor plumbing and the automobile.
Well, if they can refrain from self pleasure till next november 5th... The UK government should have a lot more to fear from the guy fawkes anon masks than the US government....
It is not the most important freedom we have, but it is certainly still our right. And oh look! I can watch films of naked ladies sucking big penises any time I want. Before the internet I used to buy porn from this guy who sold it at the barras in Glasgow. He told me that some of his most regular customers were these guys-:bobby: Everybody likes porn, and if they don't then they probably get loads of real sex. I always just assumed it has always been our right, or at least ever since photography was invented. You should really try thinking for yourself, and start basing your decision on what is right on what YOU think is right, not what you are told by the government. :afro:
Was looking at BBC news today and saw that they said trying to do this is pretty much impossible and they aren't going to do it. There's loads of porn that would be illegal for them to block as well. it was never gonna happen.
Yeah, I read one of those articles linked, the guys making the threats said "we'll have to legislate if you don't do this impossible shit... even though our legislation still doesn't make it possible", basically was a vote getting strategy, will win them some nutcases and lose them no one, because they where never going to do it. Fuckers.
why aren`t you guys angry that there is no hardcore porn on basic cable? Maybe the channel in between nickolodian and disney could be the lesbian channel! :mickey: :willy_nilly:It wouldn`t be irresponsible, parents should be watching their kids!:willy_nilly: Hopefuly, you guys at least dissagree with the above. If not, I`m leaving this conversation. I personally dont understand how having to prove that youre an adult to watch porn on tv is any worse than having to prove youre an adult to watch it on the internet. It doesn`t seem that unreasonable to me. LOL....what exactly is my government telling me? its bad for kids to watch porn?
Give it a few months and they'll all be wanking off online with their new x-box kinect. Things certainly have moved on from my day where the only source of porn as a kid was the odd jazz mag someone had stuffed in a bush somewhere where all the pages where crusty and stuck together.
where are growing boys supposed to get their porn then? It's not under their dad's bed anymore. If I didn't have porn as a teen living in my parents house I would have gone fucking insane and became a rapist. While I don't think they should be watching porn and jerking off 24/7 instead of getting out into the world and having a life I can honestly say I -hate- the white picket fence idealism that you are promoting
