Once upon a time, Poland & Lithiuiana, & Belyorus & Ukraine were all a part of one large nation.

This nation was divided up by its neighbors in different partition treaties.

The current dilemma for Russia is; that if is nibbling on the eastern end of this region, will it cause the western end to coalesce in opposition?

I like checking out "Voice of Russia" - the articles talking about our idiot traitor got me started.

 

Ukraine wants to be independent country, with her own industry, without corruption and governmenta's outrage.

But: west part of Ukraine is more with Europe, and east part of Ukraine is more with Russia

West part thinks: Old government (Janucovitch) was a marionete of Russia and stopped eurointegration, so, only revolution can help.
East part thinks: Janucovitch is a good president, eurointegration is the read to hell, so when he stopped this, revolution was a conspiracy of NATO, new government is a marionete of Eu and USA.

 

Anyone with a basic knowledge of European history knows that western/northern Ukraine is vastly different than the southern and eastern states. Bring back Galicia, allow a Donbas state to form bordering Russia, and give Odessa back to the motherland. Ukraine is nothing more than another Yugoslavia or Czechoslovakia waiting to erupt from all the ethnic tension.
