If you are looking for that style of writing, check out Jack Kerouac. I've personally only read his poetry, (which is absolutely amazing by the way), but I've heard that he writes his poetry like he writes his novels, that is, stream of consciousness. I think back in his day he called it spontaneous prose or something. Oh, plus, he was an alcoholic and drank himself to death with wine, which gives him a lot of points in my book. He knew the connection between wine and writing.

This is true, particularly his work that's along the lines of The Subterraneans. It's about his relationship with a black girl in the 40's in San Francisco and getting drunk all the time, and it's brilliant.
Jim Carrol's Forced Entries is really good too.
