My last employer was obnoxious with the United Way fundraiser. I contribute to the organizations of my choosing ; I don't give a fuck if you're raffling off two hours of PTO.
I was going to mention this too. I just say no and I don't care who hears me. I'm not a jerk about it because I bet that employee is annoyed to have to ask that question to every single person in line all day long. But I say no and I'm reasonably sure others in line don't care. And if they do....tough shit...they can give twice as much when they get asked. That isn't to say that I don't donate to my own charities that I like but I'm not going to be pressured in some gas station line. As far as my work place goes....I'm the boss and we won't be dealing with this kind of thing...ever. Give money to whatever charity you want....it's none of my business and I already have enough things to deal with and pay out of someones check that I'm not about to start making automatic donations for people too. Pay that shit yourself. On a similar note.....it has also irritated me in the past when I get letters telling me that I have to garnish someones wages because they didn't take care of whatever obligation they had. So now what? I have to send the check in? Now it's my obligation to make sure it gets paid? I hate to be a jerk but it isn't my problem. Garnish their bank account. Trust me...the state can do that if they want to and they don't even have to notify you (and neither does your bank)
