I was being sarcastic, Odon. I am outraged by this American atrocity. American atrocities in Iraq have been going on for a long time. Thanks to the helicopter crew and Bradley Manning, we have one on tape. Incidentally, according to the www.collateralmurder.com site, no charges have been laid by the American military against the helicopter crew.
Excuse me? I fail to see how my last post reflected an ignorance as to the existence of other countries. Perhaps you'd like to clarify...
Let me get this straight. A dozen civilians machine gunned is an atrocity only in my mind. That's what you're telling me?
Read the post carefully... 1-I believe I afforded some room for the involvement of entities other than just the US 2-I do not believe that the phrase "to some degree" reflects a perception that it is absolute Do you enjoy playing this game of putting words in other peoples mouths? Thank you for "correcting" me. How about sticking with the topic instead of looking to indirectly characterize those who differ from you as ignorant.
Well then, there's really nothing more I can say, since I don't indulge in flaming or trolling. There are some dogs that would rather be kicked than forgotten.

Don't get me wrong, everyone is entitled to their opinion, but Odon it has been more than obvious throughout this thread that for whatever reason you're purposely avoiding certain things people say and are instead getting caught up on the trivialities of Assange's personal life, as well as the wording of other posters in this thread. You know most of us here don't want to hear that rehashed tripe, and regardless of whether or not it's true, it is irrelevant to what Assange is doing and why we stand behind him. Perhaps you're just getting your rocks off and you find it funny, but others here obviously don't. Express yourself, but don't be surprised if people get upset with your seemingly passive aggresive word game, or just decide to not respond.
Yes... let's look at your introductory contribution here.... ...and you are basically being a contrarian to anything resembling support for Assange based on the fact that he creeps you out? You're nit-picking people's posts and doing all you can to, by mis-characterizing what is being written, disparage the presumed intelligence of the people making them. So- him giving you the "willies" means he should be taken to Guantanamo? It's obvious that you have decided that Assange is guilty of rape and are doing all you can to belittle those who dare think otherwise. Unfortunately the educational and media indoctrination system here in the states and Canada is not entirely effective in ridding the populations of the bothersome ability to see through a bullshit smokescreen- as clever as its author might be in creating it. You think the charges are justified and that's fine. I feel, along with a good number other people that they are trumped up, politically motivated bits of entrapment- and perhaps I might ultimately find Julian Assange as reprehensible a person as you want us to believe- but the leaks, for which he may well be getting a disproportionate amount of credit, are no less true- even if the preponderance of the evidence in the matter for which he was arrested shows him to be a serial rapist. To me, that simply would put him in the same league as the people on whom he is blowing the whistle. Kindly CEASE with your personal attacks. Thank you.
I do not think that is the first thing I said about this. There are many threads about this. Perhaps I've been less than fair, though. That is not true. Fair enough.
It was your first post in this thread- I have neither the time nor the inclination to find your first comment on the issue though. I shall assume that what you have contributed here is consistent with what you have said elsewhere. Please note that I have allowed myself some room to be incorrect. Okay... and if so I apologize, but from reading what you have posted here pertinent to the topic, how can you reasonably expect me or anyone else to come to any other conclusion? Perhaps my assumption above was hasty? Don't tell me that you change stances in order to provoke a juicy argument! Thanks, I thought so.
my basic point through out is: ...that we should not treat this man as a god. ...he should be honest. ...what he has done is wrong. ...I don't like him much. I can't.
Nobody here is under any impression other then that you are using your unfounded personal opinion to attack Julian and all who support him. You have made personal attacks against the other posters, have done your best to sidetrack any and all conversations about Julian into a discussion of the rumors that abound against him... All apparently because you are jealous that he has had more sex in one week then you have in your life... When people have tried to walk away from your insults and innuedo, you have done your best to drag them back into the conversation and sidetrack it more... Speaking from personal experience, people have been banned for less.
What is it that you feel is wrong? Releasing the leaks? Having sex with the two women? I'll admit the latter was dumb (assuming it is factual- I assume it is) and that he let his ego and libido make him easy to entrap. As for the leaks... it took guts. The manner that governments and corporations are reacting leave little doubt in my mind that they are factual... you could make the case that I am prejudiced against the government, which I believe is operating as a criminal organization. He shouldn't be treated as a god, no one should... it kills character, but at the same time, his alleged stupidity shouldn't be used to discredit Please do make a note that I expressed that as a strong belief and haven't expressed it as a fact here. Evidence will naturally be scarce... there are more than a few passed bar exams who make their killings on "the beltway" (Washington, D.C.) which strongly implies to me the uncommon ability to not leave any sort of trail. This is where things like Wikileaks have enhanced value in availing to intellectually hibernating huddled masses the evidence that will get them off their over fed asses and re-assume their positions as vocal dissenters to the criminal deeds that their government may well be committing. If it is effective in prompting the voter and taxpayer to begin holding their elected officials directly accountable for what they do- in part by demanding the news media begin placing a higher premium on information than it does on commentary... at least in the center of my universe, here in the United States... which I am increasingly convinced is the epicenter of much that is wrong globally. For all I know, a hypothetical meeting with Assange could leave me with a very negative impression but even then I'd respect the guts to risk making himself a target in doing his part in availing some unadulterated truth- untouched by the euphemisms, spins, and half-truth cherry-picking that is the sport of the propagandist. To me, the mode of much of this witch hunt only enhances the credibility of the leaks and whets my appetite for more. It may prove useful in being able to prepare for whatever shit storm crisis that the establishment is planning for us... assuming that such a thing is in the works. Any entity willing to employ military action to permanently silence journalists is capable and willing to do just about anything. Someone with the guts to squeal on that is at worst an heroic scoundrel scoundrel in my book.
