That some humans can kill other humans because of spoken or written symbols of communication, regardless of content, exemplifies the eficacy with which humans can be made to believe anything, especially if started early enough in life. Not much differant than 100,000 years ago(or 10 minutes ago,for that matter) when humans from differant tribes would kill each other on sight. (no,I wasn't there). I think evolutionary forces are incapable of , or are much too slow to affect any changes in the perpetual fear and ignorance ,that seems so pervasive in human behaviour. In more ways than this.

And furthermore, why would anyone want to kiss the asses of a bunch of homicidal maniacs? Fuck 'em. We need to get out of the whole region--NOW. Pack shit up and punch out.

I'd share your sentiments if I could believe that the apology was a genuine one that reflected a willingness to confront the core ethics that are cultivated in an individual that make it okay to desecrate something considered sacred in another culture. In one widely publicized act of galloping ignorance the seeds for future militant extremism were planted and fertilized. Perhaps the key to reducing military spending decades from now would be to eliminate the brainwashing with ignorance that inspires the types of acts that future generations have to lay out hundreds of billions (trillions?) to defend themselves from the people we pissed off.... oh but I guess they weren't thinking of the children then were they?

The actions belie the words of the clowns who pantomime running the show.

I disagree with their "core ethics". And those of our "leaders" too. Why we are there is not open to much debate. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Pre¢i$sely... and I'm pretty much resigned to the fact that shit is perpetually going to be stirred in the area so long as the resulting instability will justify elevating the commodity price of crude. I cringe every time I hear one of these silky voice snakes whoa re running for office (or anyone else for that matter) talk about reducing our need for foreign oil... more simplistic tripe proffered for the ignorant monkey voters.
