I try to make it fun for the grandkids. We do heart crafts and make cards for their parents. I try to do something like that with all the holidays. I have a little area in my entry that I decorate for them.
I met the most amazing person about six months ago and have been so happy ever since. I had such a happy feeling getting him something nice for Valentines Day. <3
It's not that bad. It does give the non-conformists another chance to bitch and moan and flex their expressions.
conform to what? what besides blind insanity is there to conform to? i'm all for having every day be about something, though i would never be able to remember which day was which. i don't think that would matter though. i think we should have a day for hermits, and one for multiple partner marriages and relationships. i'm still not convinced monogamy is entirely natural for humans. there are some species it is, i just don't find it compelling to believe humans are one of them. forever commitments are fine though. i don't see any good reason there can't be forever commitments of multiple partners of all genders together with each other.
"forever commitments are fine though. i don't see any good reason there can't be forever commitments of multiple partners of all genders together with each other." No, thanks, themnax.... certain things i refuse to share..... Rainy, that is a cute pin up photo!
The oppressor just says it's a holiday and people do what is suggested by the media networks for the most part, not everyone of course. ("Networks at working keeping the people calm" RATM Lyric Herp derp) So, to illustrate this point would be to use a more modern example. Cyber Monday, Giving Tuesday and Weeping Wednesdays AND Small Business Saturday are all new "holidays" being suggested and put on the people by the Western World Wide empire. The common thread in all this, valentines day, Cyber Monday etc., is economics and commerce...the religions of the world worship money, and every aspect of our culture reflects this in art, politics and education, and even in Western Religion like Western Christianity. For example, the public education in the west at all levels gears the student to be on some level, another cog in this economic system, which is oppressive by nature. Just my 2 cents, for anyone who gives a bleep.
Just curious. Are most girls sick to death of candy and roses? Would you like to be surprised instead? Something thrilling and original?
There are a lot of things I can bring myself to be be offended about, but Valentines day isn't one of them. Hating it or thinking too much about seems like a waste of time and energy. People who are swept up in it's appeal just want something to be swept into. Those who don't think it's a valuable holiday aren't going to care one way or the other.
probably not. guys are kind of stupid, and whatever surprise they come up with would probably be far worse than candy and roses.
valentines day is nothing more than a marketing scheme. if you really love someone rose and chocolates don't cut it, but being the idiotic clueless sheep most are they just following the trend, i dislike it i dislike what it creates.
