LOL It's the only right way to eat a BBq'd steak. Any other whiskey/bourbon will not taste nice. I'm having vegan tea tonight, Pasta with my own homemade sauce. Yum! But I envy you eating steak tonight.
I tried the vegan route for a year and half. Goddamn I was obsessed with eating whole healthy foods all the time and nothing but. I gradually gave up meat and all animal products except honey I got from a local farmer that was unpasteurized and free range eggs I got from a local farmer, which I rarely ate. Anyway, I did everything in the name of health and was considered to be well-informed. Over time I lost weight and began to feel just weak. I eventually developed really bad pneumonia from the lack of Amino acids. It was really bad. I was sick and couldn't work for almost 2 months. I got better after I started eating meat. After lots of research and reading I firmly believe not everyone can biologically be a vegan. I really feel as if I need meat. No amount of beans, nuts, or vegetables gives me the same effect as meat. I hate the thought of where if comes from but I have to ignore it seems just to stay alive. Just my take. I respect anyone leading the vegan lifestyle but it's hard and can be dangerous and in some cases impossible. I still don't drink milk, eat ice cream, or yogurt. I do eat small amounts of cheese though for little extra calcium. While being a veggie I learned to like a lot of vegetable I never would have tried before. I can also eat the same thing every single day without a problem. I don't really base me eating decisions of taste as much anymore. I still eat healthy but I eat once a day or so. Sometimes twice.
Those of you who did actually helped thank you for taking the time of your day to post some insite. Shadygrov, that's exactly what im trying not to happen and my doctor warned me about. You felt weak because of lack of protien. With the proper nutrition it shouldn't happen. For everyone that didn't help i'm not sure why you posted... If you enjoy meat that's your business. Along with Natural_Philosophy... that was pretty uncalled for. Im done posting on this site. A lot of people feel the need to boast, make fun, and I didn't appreciate the off topic parts.(why post right? why not make your own thread about your love of meat?) Peace.
veganism is pretty simple if your already a veggie as you can substitute everything...cheese egg milk meat...etc.. If your a meat eater turning vegan, you may get ill or just not stick to it. However I made the change from meat to vegan but I have quite alot of will power. Guess it depends on the individual?
Theres a whole vegetarian/vegan section on the site if you want people to stay on topic and not bring meat into the thread
Yes, although I am a vegetarian, and am pretty anti-meat eating, I totally agree with what you said Pat. The thread, in the first place is totally "off topic" within this forum. Not that that matters there are plenty of vegetarians/vegans on this forum that can give their imput. Also I do not believe that the meat comments were really off topic within this thread as it is diet realated anyway, albeit some of them being a little loosly connected in places (God I can't find the right words here sorry). The other problem I have with forums in general is this "do not derail a thread" attitude. I find it a little unrealistic to strictly stay "on topic" as we are conversing here and it's only natural that people run on to different topics when talking with one another. It would be a pretty mundane conversation if we just didn't get diverted at all. Also generally the threads usually get back on track after a while so I don't really see the problem really.. *shrug*
what good are free speech forums if one can't express his opinion in them? this is a thread about veganism, a certain diet. i think it is fine to discuss other diets and weight the options, etc. chill out folks.
Derailed threads nearly always get back on topic anyway; the people with something relevant to say still do, regardless of any sub-convos going on
This thread wasn't posted in the correct section but people shouldn't slam the person seeking advice with the complete opposite in what they are looking for. If I was seeking religion and wanted to find god through christianity. In doing so I started attending church the last thing I would want is to be slammed with some other religion and be told that christianity is "faggotry" its not even about respect, its common courtesy
We didn't slam anyone. We just started talking about what we eat. In no way did we put anyone down or bad mouth vegetarians
