Hey, that's MY mom's house, and by proxy, MY house! And that pic isn't cheesey, it's ROCKIN!! And I pity the foos who grow outta it. :sunglasse
Part-time vegetarianism is better than no vegetarianism at all. My sister-in-law claims to be a "sort-of vegetarian" and eats fish. I don't waste my time arguing with her, but the word I use for her and other people like her is "flexitarian." Let's face it...lots of people are never going to try vegetarianism if we get all rigid with them. Ten people cutting half of the animal products out of their diet does more for the environment than one person who becomes vegan.
Good point, at least it's a start. But it's still very frustrating. I agree there needs to be another name for them, otherwise it spoils our good name. I'm not sure it's that rigid though. Vegetarian just means no meat, if they don't like it there you go. TTFN Sage PS I love your user name.
hey I'm a vegetarian God wat do u eat it must b hard oh well I eat fish oh & chicken but no red meat - well it aint red once it's cooked so I guess I do - can't stand veg y do people go around talking shite like this?
the statement you have just made is like saying 'i'm a a man whos sleeps with other men but i'm not gay' get a clue if you eat meat your not vegetarian and is you actually look at what the vegetarian society says its down there in black and white S
Actually I would check that - I no under UK laws cannabalism is not illegal - of course killing them would
I think I owe you an apology, I thought you where making those statements not making a point about how silly they are- sorry! S
i'm vegan and i don't eat fish. in my opinion, vegetarians who don't eat meat or poultry, should not eat fish because they are animals too.
I was surprised today, when my 40 year old cousin was listening to TV and heard something about "Vegan". She had heard of "vegetarians" before but didn't have a clue what it really meant. She thought all vegetarians eat eggs, fish and all seafood. When I explained about vegans eating no animal products and didn't eat jello & marshmallows, she thought it was crazy.
It makes me crack up when people say their vegetarians but eat fish! No, your not a veggie....you just don't eat meat! lolol AVegetarian is a non eater of any type of flesh! I tried to be a veggie, i did really well, i lasted 6 months, but im sure meat products got in my food chain via biscuits, gravy, crisps or other bits n bobs i was eating. I went to a party on night, got stoned and had a munch on a sausage. Then my friend said aint you a veggie...i was like...**** i am aint i?! oh well!!! That was the end of that! I had a cool Richard Gere look-a-like teacher at school and use to come to school with basically straw tied to his feet, God love him! Also vegetarians who don't eat meat for cruelty purposes shouldn't wear leather and suede and stuff cos it defeats the object. Sure some will say, it's a by product or whatever, but then a meat eater could used that same line and say,..well, the pigs dead i may as well have a bacon sarnie! Now fruitarians.......whoa! How hard must that be!
If you're a "part-time" vegetarian or you eat some foods that strict vegetarians wouldn't eat, you're a flexitarian. One of my vegetarian friends was backpacking in central Europe. He told people he was vegetarian, so they served him chicken. Go figure!!!
My best friend claims to be a veg, but eats fish! I don't believe that is true. (I'm vegan.) As I posted on my, "4 types of vegetarians," post, that's called a semi-vegetarin: limited their consumption of meat. After finding out that information, it made me think, "well at least they are helping a little bit." I totally consider fish an animal and a meat. I blame that damn food pyramid for showing a steak and a fish seperately!
Hay guys this is my first posting on this hip forum thing... so, hello to all. ::shakes your hands:: I just wanted to mention a book that I just finished reading, "Mad Cowboy"... Thank goodness I was already a vegan when I started reading it, because if there was an ounce of animal products in me when I read even the first 3 pages, i would have thrown up! The whole book is nothing but pages of information (from a man who grew up as a cattle rancher/ feedlot owner!) about what your food eats (cows eating roadkill, chicken shit, ect...), government cover ups (YES! IN THE MEAT INDUSTRY!), medical information and statistical information (that will BLOW YOUR MIND), and soooo much more. I WAS a kinda slack vegan, now I can't even look at a milk chocolate candy bar without getting ill.
::handshake:: for lockmonkey... i'm new too. where i am, i get kind of the opposite about fish. i had one person come up to me and say "How can youse vegetarians call yourselves vegetarians when you really eat fish, that's just stupid." He was one of several non-veggies who tried to tell me how vegetarians shouldn't eat fish, we're pretentious, liars, etc. I DON'T EAT FISH!!...people make me cranky sometimes
Hey guys, welcome aboard Lock: That book sounds really interesting. Might check it out sometime (on an empty stomach) Tech: I totally understand, fundementally of course they are right. But God that must be annoying to keep hearing. And from omnis too, like they have moral higher ground. TTFN Sage
People who avoid meat for health reasons often will eat fish because it is full of protein and has much less fat. That's why people ask that. Those of us who avoid meat for moral reasons, such as myself, wont eat fish because it's the same thing to us. People don't seem to understand that, they think they're both the same thing.
