This photo's interesting. Elvis, one of the country's (United States) greatest musical innovators, served in the military. Today is Veteran's day in the U.S. and we remember those who served. Today sits heavy in my heart though. It's not Memorial day; which is about the fallen. In fact, quite the contrary! Today we remember those who served and selflessly gave years of their lives to a cause that sometimes may seem intangible - freedom. What is our freedom? I believe that freedom is born in our hearts and minds when we go about our daily lives and exist among the benefits of our free world. I don't think I'm exaggerating to say that the concept is a result of their sacrifice. We drive down the road, listen to the radio, and go home to switch on the news because they gave us that gift. But though we remember, I think we frequently take for granted the sacrifices they made. In remembering them today, I am going to go out of my way not to make it awkward or be weird or emotional, no, but rather to say, "Thank you for your service." and let that be that.
