The ps2 WAS worth it like a year ago, but if you want to keep on gaming for a good while, I wouldn't recommend it, since it's becoming obsolete, and if you buy it, I guarantee in a couple of weeks you would really want the ps3. The wii is really good, but I'd say it's more of a secondary system; only to be played with mates, really. It's a system that is easily left untouched for a long time. The only good reason to get a wii is for the wii fit. But in terms of fun and usage, I really don't think it's worth the money. A few months ago, I would of recommended the xbox 360 (even though I'm a playstation girl). It's close to the ps3, plus it has live. It has some good exclusive games, such as halo etc. An added bonus - there will be extra downloadable missions for gta IV. Right now, though; I'd say the best console to have is the ps3. It has blu-ray, a lovely controller, and amazing games coming out exclusively, such as MGS4 (drool), and an amazing game that's already out called Drake's Fortune. Also, in my opinion, GTA was meant to be played on a playstation :H Be careful if you buy the ps3, though - I've heard that newer versions aren't backwards compatible to ps2 games (so don't buy any ps2 games lol). really it depends on what kinds of games you like i love my wii, because it has hella silly games like cooking mama, and fun games like trauma centre (cutting people up rules) ps3 has a lot of good rpg's 360 has lots of good other games, like halo and culd cept saga dont forget there are some nifty handhelds out there too. the DS looks pretty sweet to be honest, ill probably pick one up eventually
I have the wii, and the shooting games and the nintendo made games are fantastic. Mario Galaxy is great and the new Metroid, and the Zelda is fantastic. I also have the other two systems in my house, XBOX 360 and PS3(someone just brought it over yesterday) and I find that when I am alone I'll play single player games on the other two but all the first person shooters on the Wii, and when friends come over or if I want to do anything two player I only use the wii and the other two collect dust. If the last system you had was a 64 and you dont have a jones for Grand Theft Auto games, I would say get a Wii p.s. the DS is fuckin awesome.
hmmm...ok, now heres a rediculously stupid question....i am almost too embarassed to ask.... but i see a lot of talk when looking for information on this stuff about blue-ray this or hd-that.... i dont have an HDTV set. will all of the new systems still hook up to it, or will only some or should i forget about it until i have an HD television?
new system will hook up. hd tv just has better quality. bluray player plays bluray discs, an upgrade like a dvd is an upgrade compared to vhs (hd discs are died like beta did)
Don't but anything that's Blueray since it's loosing the market to HD. If I were you I'd find a cheap ass xbox on e-bay. There are a shitload of good games for the xbox and the graphics and gameplay are much better than ps2.
what sort of crack are you smoking? they arent even making HD discs or players anymore. even the primary manufacturers of HD have admitted defeat, bluray is the new disc technology. high definition tvs are still out there, but theyre just higher quality, not technology-specific

sony host a lot of rpg's....but a lot of them also suck... with nintendo, rpgs are scarce, but the ones that do come out are damn good. oh and wii has the tales of symphonia sequel and also fire emblem.
i bought a ps2 just for gta3 and now i just bought a xbox 360 for gta4 i got the system on ebay for 250 used with hardrive and wireless controller including shipping and insurance. im going to bed right now so i can pick up gta4 at midnight and play it until i got to go to work. ps2 is awesome and has a shitload of good games that you can get for dirt cheap.
I like the xbox better then the ps2, lots of great games. Problem here is that xbox games aren't in the stores anymore.. But you can buy them cheap on ebay and stuff. Ps2 isn't bad either, Xbox generally has better graphics and more fun games for me. For the next gen consoles I'd probably go for a PS3, which I will buy in a few years because it's a couple of 100 euro's cheaper then and I have a better view which console has the most fun games. Personally, I'm really looking forward for Red dead revolver II, haha. As one of the very few I think. We'll see! At the moment I'd go for the X-box if I were you, although you probably have to put some effort in getting the games.
I say go for the Wii. you've got mario kart, mario party, super smash bros, play and sport are both really cool, and the upcoming star wars game should be pretty cool, and it's nintendo. when has nintendo ever let you down?
