OK, well the ego distortion that I was picking up from you was a mix of arrogance, a need to be right, a need to force your viewpoint and get the other person to change theirs, and general bullheadedness (you're not by any chance a Taurus are you?). Also lack of humility and introspection, which generally goes along with all the above qualities. That may have been more circumstantial than a continuous pattern... that much I can't tell as yet. I disagree in part. I don't think I misperceived you, but I'm well aware of my shadow self, which has been active lately and which I am fully aware of and not resisting. Well, that's funny cause everything you just said is what I saw in you. I think what you perceived as defensiveness on my part was actually my unwillingness to discuss my shadow-self with you at the time (not to say I wasn't aware of it), especially when you couldn't admit to the shadow in yourself. If I sense humility in another I'm more than willing to indulge in a deeper conversation. Otherwise I'll clam up and keep my opinions to myself.... well most of the time. I have zero desire to share an insight with another if they're not open to it. If I sense resistance then I'm outta there. Only if you've identified it first. Given time I'm sure I'd see plenty more, but I don't know much about you. Plus you don't always get the clearest sense of someone online. In person & I'd have your number, mister. I usually tend to see people deeper than what they are comfortable with or can handle. I love people and have a deep compassion for them and empathy for their inability to face truth... but it's the truly open-hearted & open-minded ones that I deeply respect. Don't come across too many of those.
Not humility actually, just detached observation -- so perhaps there's no hope for me after all. But then, that's the idea, isn't it? These are all symptomatic of the principle ego distortion that you have yet to identify. No. I have little doubt that you're aware of your shadow self to some degree. However, interacting with me is the deep end of the pool. If you're not willing to manifest from the depths of your soul, you'll find yourself treading water pretty quickly. Yes, well I act as a mirror for many that I encounter, both in person and online. Most people in my life don't actually have a relationship with me but with a mental projection of their own shadow interspersed with fragments of my essence. It's highly likely that your experience interacting with me is reflective of this phenomenon. You'd be the first (person, that is ). You do have an ego attachment to "having peoples' numbers" though, don't you? I think you overestimate your perceptual faculties as well as your capacity for compassion. Even if in our initial conversation you had correctly identified my ego distortion, saying "sorry, but you're full of shit" isn't exactly the best way to convey an insight in a fashion conducive to another person's spiritual growth. I hope you don't interpret my post as being too adversarial or antagonizing -- tactfulness was never one of my strongpoints, so you'll have to forgive me. However, I have little tolerance for coddling the egos of others -- so perhaps it is at this juncture that you should take your own advice: see deeper into yourself, be willing to face the truth, and most importantly, have compassion.
