anyway please friends just show up to vision council if you have a vision for Vermont or wherever, share your vision. Speak clearly and with charisma, using those oral commas and periods, and you may have success. You'll have to put up with those who rant and rave, but eventually, the Vision Vortex always loses.

I do not need to boast about the things I have done or feel that I have to prove my "rainbow worthiness" to some person that feels they need to point out "everything" they do to make themselves feel above and beyond others.

I have done what I have done and participated in what I have.

Many people have bared witness to my dedication.

Many people will eventually see for themselves.

Some will never see at all.

If I am not physically participating at this moment... I will be in the vast future that awaits.

I love the way that "rainbow" judge other Rainbow!

I can say, from my experiences at many a gatherings, that I tend to stay away from the people that are running around shouting out to everyone....

Usually they are attention seekers that question everyone's worthiness and then question what they are doing and how they are doing things.

Then... they move on to telling you that you are doing it all wrong and how it should be done.

Often, after they are done making sure that EVERYONE around them knows they are worthy of being recognized, they usually yell something like....

""what have you done for your family, bucko"

It is a pretty interesting thing to see and a common occurrence.

You can often find these folks all plum tuckered and tired out at the end of the day.

Hope to meet you one day so you can judge my worthiness up close and in person.

Sometimes the kindest most hardest workers are the biggest assholes that are on the net!

well... I'm sure none of you know who I am (although if you want credentials... I stood in the river naked in Arkansas yelling to people about being naked, and trying to get a ticket from the LEO's... apparently they weren't interested in getting wet) but regardless of all that... I've known "Shwaglo" since I was born into this family a 2 years ago, I've had a chance to hang out with him at a few regionals, and at *both* of the national gatherings I've been to... he has a great big heart, a beautiful song, is a hard worker, and one of my favorite people to spend time with...

he doesn't need my defense... but I can assure you that he has much love and wants the best for our family...

as far as this 'vision council' topic goes... I have nothing to say, except that I expect to be at thanksgiving council... hope to see you there

I do not believe in the "rainbow cred" that seems to be a badge that some wear with honor and say nothing and the ones that wear the badge but spend all the time sitting around polishing their badge so that EVERYONE knows just how shiny it is.

I personally feel that is is a piss poor of an example to set for the younger folk new to Rainbow.

Just my opinion... but I understand that my opinions not as worthy as an individual that can make sure that everyone knows their worthiness.

Not to mention what it does to an individuals head once started.

I often sit here and wonder how many people learn of Rainbow and become interested. But, then they go and read the posts of people that are making sure that others know just how "Rainbow" they are. I wonder how many are left thinking....

I stick by my firm belief that Rainbow has not changed at all.... the PEOPLE and the attitude is what has changed.

I bet the same amount of newcomers read such past asinine posts of mine and others... and said the same thing as the "I am better than you" people.

People have learned that you cannot judge a book by it's cover.

It is pretty easy to want to give an asshole online, a chance, when you meet them for the first time. You get to truly see if they are an online asshole or just an asshole in general.

It is a lot harder to WANT to give people online a chance, when they are throwing the superiority complex, when they are met for the first time.

My wife, our kids, and myself have been planning to hit the Rainbow road for over a year now.

Heading back this spring.

I am NOT sorry that I have taken a break to raise these two beautiful children into the Rainbow way of life and with the knowledge to continue on the path that involves Rainbow.

I would rather raise my children strong and bring them to the forest than raise them in the forest and have them leaving weak!

I am left wondering if we are welcomed.

I mean... The gatherings sure are not what they were like ten years a go.

There seem to be a new breed that feel they ARE RAINBOW and that everyone seems to have to prove how worthy they are to be accepted.

What is so fun about being around a bunch of people sitting around a fire, patting each other on the back, and giving praise to each other about how they are so much more rainbow than everyone else?

If I have 2 dozen gatherings on my belt from but have not been to one in ten years... then I am "NEW" and treated like shit?

Seems to be.

Guess I will just have to wait and see!

Just hope my children do not have to constantly hear this kind of crap in person!

good loving enviroment for new family
resurgence of the positive energy from 10 or so years ago
and less "infighting"
which is why i am for gathering in regions less gathered
we've been preaching to the choir
LEO harrassment is thinning the numbers of a finite region we contiue to gather in
regions we've less gathered would bring more unrelized family home of all generations not just exteam youth still caught up in hedonistic focus

so can you see my chagrin at councils that decide to keep nationals localized and stay the speading and enrichment of our family?

i wish we could all agree to have a unified vision of having a blossoming family not (i dont know if this pertains to you) how close to my back yard can we get national

Good to see you took the time to think as not many people do. Sometimes when you are left wondering WTF and trying to figure out wtf is happening and why you feel you are being attacked... it all makes since out of nowhere.

I have provided a very nurturing and well provided for environment for MY family over the past ten years. THEY have been MY priority. Now, we feel that MY family has grown stagnant and MY children need more teachings that we can find where I am at.

MY family will be YOUR family and these kids will have OUR actions to look up to.

It takes a village to raise a child.... but most of the villages are tainted.

Would you believe I have unfortunately ended up in a place where not one single damn person knows what Rainbow is?

No explanations or excuses... but 6 years in a place with no family makes you spend a lot of time becoming an asshole... especially online, as you have to sit on the sidelines and watch from a far!

I turn to people like you for what we search for and well... we all know that when it comes to young minds, we want to make sure people understand the TRUST and commitment it takes to bring such young minds into OUR family.... ESPECIALLY NOW A DAYS!

My last gathering was Prineville. My first was Florida '93.

I guess you could say that I was introduced at a very troubling time.

Grateful Dead was fading then nil.

Overflow hit Rainbow.

Rainbow was just starting to pay it's toll and the numbers have been ever dwindling.

LEO presence was becoming aggressive and so were the gatherers

I do not see a change but I FEEL a change coming.

Can not describe it but it has been stronger this year than any.

Those years were the start of many different factions... I guess.

To many movies.... too many directors... NOT ENOUGH ACTORS!

Yet another reason why I think we would get a long fine.

Personally, we think Ocala would be a mighty fine start for "our" young minds to be introduced to the gatherings.

You get shown the light in the strangest of places....

And... it is not just because I favor Florida because it was my first gathering and where I am from.

If I had one reason why I would want to bring my children to Ocala...

It would be to show all the fuck ups there that the children ARE our future and even FUCK UPS can raise proper children on the right path. I am a personal atonement to this. All my years on the road have taught me what was right and wrong. I might not have done what was right at all times (usually most of the time I fucked off or up) but I learned from my mistakes. Now, I can and have, reflected upon such mistakes and have taught my children to be better than I have ever been.

I would rather have all of our properly taught children deciding our future than any of us.

They have taught me a lot about myself.

I honestly feel that they have a lot more to teach all of you than I could ever claim to.

Same choir different techniques.

And causing many to pause, regroup, and plan new game plans.

We all know that gatherings are not just in the forests.

I have had a problem reading your posts.

I have to re read them multiple times to figure out and understand what you are saying.

I am sure others do to.

We read cause we care and respond cause we care... (weeeeelllll 99.3% of the time)... but it just makes it really difficult to and takes quite the bit of un needed effort.

Just makes it easier for all involved.

My only hint is to stay away from the fucking spell checker and look the damn words up when unsure. Good to alert you to being wrong but bad to cause a dependency worse than crack. Too many people are forgetting how to spell because of it.

Would you believe it if I told you that I think councils are schwag and that there has not been a "real" council since the '70's or '80's?

I never participated in a "real" one in the '90's but I participated in a few only to decide.... why bother.

I actually gave up after the disrespect/disorganization of the Cumberland/Alabama fiasco.

THEY are one of the most dictated parts of a gathering... more so the nationals that people show up to once a year and think they control.

Got to get their limelight in the media and make sure everyone knows they are the forefathers of Rainbow and give their egos the recognition they think they deserve.

One day... unfortunately when no one has a choice but to.

I have decided to get ID for the first time in 16 years.

Drivers license and the whole shebang.

First time in 20 years I have no wants and warrants and the first time I will ever be dedicating myself to Rainbow with my own children and family.

Fuck... a couple dozen gatherings and I HAVE NEVER BEEN TO KIDDIE VILLAGE!

A whole new world.

Know of a solid family, that has room for a family that is financially secure ....and looking for a bigger family to travel with?

PS... I do not put much faith in to any First Nationer that can criticize and complain of Rainbow's existence unless they have been there themselves and speak from experience.

SOMEHOW... I feel that if a First Nationer had truly went and seen what it was about... then they would not be criticizing it... and would be helping teach us, and accepting us for who we are, and not for what we are not.

second I applaud you home schooling
ocalla has a great kid village (not phillipe) and iris kitchen is way kid friendly and nutritionally sound (i like to limit my own exposure to front gate there) also fat kids love children energy there too
and would recommend a school bus they're cheap by comparison to rvs and deisels are easy to covert to grease (extra space for extra tank!!!)

 

RVs can be cheap to aquire, especially up in the far north (lots of retired Canadian snow birds who take excellent care of their vehicles but have to sell after some travel due to health). RV's are easier to insure, have better insulation & have a good amount of amenities built in. The tires are also much less expensive.

Don't get me wrong, I did the road schoolie thing for a lot of years & currently have 5 schoolies that are our home. Being able to customize your living space is a schoolbus perk. Buses have a steel outter shell, compared to the aluminum covered wooden frame of most RV bodies. Schholbuses have a higher undercarriage clearance & generally do better off-road than RVs.

I think it all depends on what each person's/family's/tribe's priorities are.
