I had a similar experience not with vodka, but with tequila. I downed almost an entire liter when i was 17 and almost died of alcohol poisoning. I had a blackout and woke up with blood all over me, because I fell down my friends basement stairs and cut myself. Now when I smell Jose I heave. I think its just my bodys way of reminding me to take it slow.
l don't know what the answer is... However l do love it when my girlfriend drinks vodka, as it turns her into a devil in the bedroom..
Me, 8 months ago. Yeah I'm pretty much in the same boat as you guys now...I CAN'T STAND vodka anymore. It's all about the Jack now
I'll use Smirnof to mix with my Cranberry or Lime juice..its much cheaper than absolut and cant tell the difference when its mixed. I find absolut to be overrated and over priced As for straight and on the rocks ...Belvedere all the way. Its practically tasteless (no rubbing alcohol taste what-so-ever..and has a slight hint of vanilla and carmel notes that dance on the palate...its not called liquid velvet for nothing. The most expensive spirit I have tasted that lives up to all the hype. On sale... $27 for a Fifth. Def' for special occasions but well worth owning. For me its not expensive cause I could make it last for 4 months.
i dont like vodka much at all... tastes like cleaning alcohol. there are much better drinks out there.
Vodka is the purest ethyl alcohol availible to drink. A neutral grain spirit. Any flavor characteristics are make up less then 1%, the rest is either water or ethyl alcohol. Hangovers are mainly caused by the associated lower and higher alcohols in less pure spirits. Also Vodka's are not all created equal. The usually higher priced ones may be even purer, made with spring waters and distilled more times and more precisely. Vodka is a rough translation of water of life.
I've been drinking vodka since.... well since I've been drinking. No matter how many times I end up throwing up from it I've never gone off it. I barely ever bother with anything else. Absolut is lovely but expensive so I stick with Smirnoff for the most part. Occasionally I'll go and buy Sainsburies home brand vodka. It costs about £7, and it just has a white label with VODKA written on it. Fantastic.
