    it's your thread.

as i said, the whole thing excites me. you re-instilled the whole lucid dream notion back in my head. you even did it and gave "directions."

as far as i'm concerned, it was mentally exhausting enough to just to finally have one lucid dream, so i've always considered astral projection wayyy out of my ballpark.

this "journal" (if you will) helps a lot.

    kudos

    this thread is WAY over my head by now, but i have one question;

when i'm about to fall asleep, and i jerk awake feeling as if i'm about to fall (the most accurate way i can describe it)..
does THAT have anything to do with lucid dreaming etc.?

I tried this once and failed. However the second time was different!

This morning I woke up from a 4.5-5 hour sleep. I have read before that you had to waste an hour after that, but I just took a piss (as instructed lol) and then sat for a few minutes. After that I laid back down.

I relaxed as much as I could, and found that by "locking on" to the feeling of relaxation (sry if that makes no sense right now) I could exaggerate that feeling. Out of nowhere I leapt abruptly into sleep paralysis! I was fully conscious, though. Then a few seconds later I slipped into something that has been hard to describe to anybody.

Audio: I heard LOUD white noise in the distance. There were two LOUD frequencies (like sinusoidal waves), one going up and the other going down. It almost sounded "phased" or "flanged". I also *vaguely* remember some voices or something, its hard to remember exactly.

Physical: Um... well it felt like my brain was spiraling through a vortex in some other dimension. That was one of the coolest parts!

Visual: I experienced strange colorless shapes for about 3 seconds, and then all that was left was the physical and audio aspects. However, the usual blackness was more of a swirl than usual.

So, this sounds like I was 85% there. I could feel myself inching towards another level of lucidity, but I just didn't sink deep enough.

Very very very fun and intense! It definitely was quite a surprise!

:cheers2: Good luck to you all. And thank you Stalk, I am glad you made this thread.

    Awesome, keep it up!

You can pass up to an hour before laying back down
but I always just pee and lay back down.

When I used to smoke a lot of ganja I'd wake up and toke, and then lay back down.

Sometimes I wouldn't even make it back to laying down before I would be ripped out of my body sitting up....that was weird

Remember, next time you enter sleep paralysis, see if you can move your eyes to look up out of your head

this is a trigger of sorts...

Do you mean roll your eyes back, open your eyes and look up, or do you mean it figuratively?

Can you keep your eyes open and experience full blown scenarios, or do you have to keep it in the dark?

Also, is there any way to describe how its an "inverted" form of a DMT trip?

First, keep your eyes closed at all times, and relaxed.
When you enter sleep paralysis, or feel it about to come on, move your eyes to look up and out of your head. Look up when you're laying down, which is really look back. Just use your eyes and move them upward, yeah like rolling them to the back of your head.

Second, I've had my eyes open on accident sitting straight up talking to a friend when I've blasted out of my body...

keep them closed when you're focusing, though. It's easier.

Third...I don't really compare this to DMT anymore.

n, n-dmt is ....... so much more than this.

I am still in the process of being sure to remember my dreams each night, I can remember more and more.

Have you got any tips for staying aware, and not falling back to sleep. Whilst trying to reach sleep paralysis?

Though i think if i stayed up too long I would have no hope of reaching sleep paralysis.

    Xx

When the visions start to come, do NOT get lost in one of them.
You need to sit back, and watch them like a movie.
The longer you watch, the more vivid they become, the deeper you go, thus giving you more abilities the further you are along in this labyrinth.

What do you mean about staying up too long?

Just sleep 4.5-6 hours, wake up, then proceed to WILD :D

I've gotten so close to leaving my body. the furthest I got was when my heart was beating like crazy...the only thing that kept me in was that shrivel of fear.

I should try it after waking up from a short sleep.

tips for staying aware? concentrate on something. like if you a clock, concentrate on that. or, concentrate on an object in your room.

yeah, I think it helps to roll back your eyes because you're concentrating on your third eye, which I read is where you project from.

I should have it down, anyday now though. I want to do it to meet my Higher Self mostly. and the Akasha.

I just meant, after waking. If I proceeded to WILD straight away I would probably just drift back off.

    Its ok though i understand.

How long did it take you to master it?

slow your heart beat with deep slow breaths. four per minute.
fear and higher heart rate force the brain to operate at higher frequencies which diminish your ability to dive deeper into yourself.

The trick is to do this after a few REM cycles, 4.5/6 hours work best for me. (REM cycle is an hour and a half)

I don't recommend doing this with your eyes open. That is a distraction.
    Focus on awareness itself. Sink.

That's why awareness is an exercise!!
    The more aware you are
the more aware you will be able to be.

    Just keep at it...

this took me a while to figure out.

no no, I didn't mean open your physical eyes.
I meant focus the awareness IN the object with your imagination, get intimate with it...the trick is to imagine using your Astral eyes, and who knows, it might happen... but mainly its just a good way to get to the sleep paralysis state.

but four breaths per minute you say? I haven't heard of that, I'll definitely try it.

    It's a good rhythm.

And what do you mean who knows?

The third eye is just as real as jupiter or pussy.

What we need to do in order to have more meaningful and positive moments during sleep paralysis, is to clean up our act everyday. The same nightmares that apply to psychedelic trips, seem to apply with sleep paralysis as well. There is good and bad to be had from these dreams, and they are not always meaningful. Many times, they are visits to a sort of 'astral hell' and although we require purification in order to taste the higher realms of truth, we can negatve karmic debt during our waking, sober life, by performing good deeds and exposing our hearts to love. Try meditation before you sleep and practice acts of selfless kindness, and your karma will slowly start to clear up.
When we take psychedelics, or enter into sleep paralysis, we are not fully in control because we are not that spiritualy advanced yet. You expose yourself to other souls and dimensions of the mind that can either be beuatiful, or terrifying, and there is no reason to harm ourselves when we can work to make the experience constantly positive.
What I found works for me, when I wish to induce these states, is to have cultivated positive actions in time a few weeks before. Get myself on point, be more responsible at work and as a father, be more loving to my girlfriend and more open to offence. I dont require sleeping and then waking up, rather I abstain from food for as much as the day as I can handle healthily, and when I go to bed for the night I lay flat on my back with my hands on my belly. I allow my thoughts to drift and wander, but bring myself back to being awake a few times as the body load from being drowzy settles in. If I am within my right to experience a positive hypnagogic state, I start to dream but the dreams begin to get very confusing, and suddenly I find myself with eyes open, buzzing away and seperating from my body. From there it's up to my position in life which determines my experience. I am never fully in control, though it seems like it at first, but after awhile, wether Im floating in my room or walking around, I start to feel the intense seizure symptoms and wake up only moments after.
I used to be big into this trip when my son was first born, trying to force these states and to control them. However nowadays I typically let them come of the my bodys own accord and allow them to take me for a ride in which I am not in control. This has led to the most fantastic visions and auditory experiences of my life.
When I was forcing them, a lot of them were not psychedelic in any traditional sense, but rather paranoid/delusional nightmare states. The weirdest of them which did not involve and typical psychedelic beauty (or terror) was when I laid down and almost immediatley entered the state, and I heard someone open my front door. I heard the footsteps coming down my hallway as I laid in bed paralyzed with the hypnagogic state as well as with fear, and heard as well as saw a person slowly open my bedroom door. Right away I regained control and jumped out of bed, and heard the person go into my sons room and shut the door. The door was always left open so that I could hear him if he woke up crying in the middle of the night. I found the door closed and was trembling with fear, I searched his whole room, my kitchen, and I even went outside to totally reassure myself it was a hallucination and not a true break in.
Half my experiences leave me upon waking up with a most beautiful and wonderful sensation that I had been to other planes of consciousness worth exploring, and the other half have found me clutching a knife and sitting outside smoking cigarettes and drinking alcohol to calm myself down and remind myself that not only is it not real when intruders visit, but that Im not completley insane.
It is playing with fire if we dont live a healthy, selfless existence during our sober everyday. Just be careful because this at first tends to be very fun and very interesting, but if we are not ready for the experience, they can become quite severe and very frightening, especially if you are living on your own without anyone to wake up and talk with. A loved one, or a child, or a family member or even a friend who can lend a sympathetic ear during those moments when the boundaries of sanity are crossed soothe the soul and do wonders for your peace of mind. Trust me, I have taken hundreds of psychedelic trips on various chemicals, and nothing can compare to the fear the hypnagogic state will bring if you enter into astral hell. When you are tripping, something in the back of your mind typically reminds you that you took and drug and it will pass through your system, but during sleep paralysis, the lines of reality can be blurred in a far more devestating way. The only upside is that if you enter astral hells, they tend to leave very quickly if you experience such deep fear, though the lingering effect on consciousness can be nasty. Good luck, and
    God Bless +

No problem stalk! This thread is very cool, it's always interesting to see how many more people are experiencing this. I have had it since I can remember, and most of my life I kept it a secret, I had no idea there was a medical name for it and had never heard of anyone describing it. For a long time I had a slight fear that I was becoming crazy, that this is not normal and I thought my nervous system and electrical wiring in my mind was jacked up. I even went so far as to contemplate seeing a doctor for fear I was developing epilepsy, only I knew it wasnt after researching that condition due to the feeling of such deep pain during the seizures, as well as being fully aware of myself, totally conscious. I wrote my own very lengthy and detailed essay, which I was actually quite proud of at the time, and sent it in to some medical research company which appeared to be desperate for accounts of sleep paralysis as well as opinion and theory as to why it happens. I sent a few copies before I realized that I was either being ignored or my essay was not what they were looking for, probably because I went into pages upon pages of detail on how I found psychedelics (DMT, LSD, Psilocybin, & Mescaline), opiates, seizures, and astral projection (as well as zen, dyhana, meditation etc) are all apparently connected, in that they all immerse us into varying levels of depth and breadth into the astral realms, or dimensions of mind differentiated from the spacetime fabric. I assume I was rejected on ground of being perceived as eiter a bullshitter or a psychopath, so I left it alone and remained docile on the subject while gathering the opinions and experiences of others. However, I am now firmly convinced that it is a trip through a very different state of mind, a true astral projection of the highest sense. I believe the physical, astral, and causal are all one in the same due to origination in descedning order and recovery in ascending order, but we experience them one at a time in our present state.

Personally I make a distinction between actual dreaming and experiencing sleep paralysis.

for me at least, dreams hold a lot of inherent meaning, teachings, past life recalls, and trasferance of energy.

Sleep paralysis on the other hand I find sort of useless. I've experienced it a few times, once extremely horrifying, the others just somewhat confusing. I've never been able to walk away from sleep paralysis with anything, so I just regard it as the useless ramblings of the mind caught somewhere between awake/sleep.

Well, your definition of "useless" is a bit different than mine :)
