Even if they sign at 17 they can still pull out before they ship to basic training at 18. From then on training will make them ready.

Yeah, I get what you're saying.
But even at age 18... it's still a question about is the person mature enough mentally to be making decisions such as that? For some people (maybe like yourself and some other people I know personally) the answer is probably yes. But for some people, I'd gander the answer make be "no"... And a lot of what I'm getting at is the cortex of the brain responsible for decision making doesn't fully develop until sometime in the mid 20's (that is why smoking a lot of weed before then or drug/alcohol use in general) can have a very bad effect on a young brain compared to an older brain... I just look at a lot of 17 (and 18) year olds as children in their maturity levels... not saying everyone but if you think about the OTHER decisions we don't allow 17 or even 18 year olds to make...

I signed the marine corps dotted line. I was contracted to do the very same stuff you did but to certain extents. Mainly, I set shit up to be blow to hell and back.

What do I know about it? I watched a lot of kids cry and scream for 'mommy' or whomever, Something I care not to hear again. I carried off too many to count and rushed my ass to get them help.

One of you, No. But I was there maybe next to you or opened a hole up that you passed through. Sorry, I had the balls, I also had the edge to do that 'little extra' and have no problem dealing with it. Ill do it again if needed but not for vague reason.

That's why they use the young ones. Easier to exploit.

Yeah, again, you were never one of us. You can't even really say you signed on the dotted line for my beloved Corps.

 I never once saw a civilian doing what you claim you did for the Marine Corps. We have our own sappers. So, no, I don't think you know what the fuck you're talking about or that you really did what you claim you did. Yes, that is right, I'm calling you a liar.

You can walk in with a huge ego and the impression of what you saw in the movies. You walk in arrogant, You walk out combat and order ready no questions asked.

Ask me how I know about that.

That's all go and fine, I could careless. I know where I signed up, Where I went, What caused my discharge. I also know what I signed to go civilian and what I did for them.

Believe what you want, Im not claiming 'one of you' and never have as I did not get to serve under that title, But I got my kicks. Just because you didn't 'see' people doing something, Don't mean it never happened.

I thought I was going to joke around while doing basic. So I ended up doing more than the average person while getting yelled at. I learned fast to do as they say no questions asked.

My friend was promised a house, a car and, a terrific 'career' that he can bring out of the Navy. But I mean, a spur of the moment decision, got him stuck on Navy bases for over 5 years. He's been in about 2 years, and he doesn't really like it, and still, he just has enough money to squeeze by.

I mean I remember Army recruiters in my High School after Gym. They would actually sign up 17 year olds, for when they turned 18. I know this for a fact because my skepticism led me to ask.

It's not a "draft," but the step before. If we go to war with Syria, it'd be worse than Vietnam, from all the blowback it would cause.

It is called conditioning response and is brutal to the psyche who's wish is to explore and not to conform. Brain washing and physical conditioning, a one two punch shaped you up right now.

I got hurt at camp Pendleton during basic. Only thing I didn't do was finish three weeks of training and graduation. Believe what you want, I signed the 'dotted' line, Then again for my discharge.

A navy recruiter actually promised your friend a house and car, and your friend believed him? Sounds like your friend is a fucking moron.

I signed up when I turned 17. You enter something called the Delayed Entry Program and, until your ship date, are under no obligation to actually go. You can back out at any time.

It isn't anywhere near a draft, not even a "step before". Syria doesn't have as many friends as you believe. Blow back would be minimal.

My fault, I was a smartass toward things/items. I laughed as I did physical punishment, But they didn't stop laughing either and kept me moving. I was givin 60 second showers, Some days half diet.
They didn't do anything to me, I didn't bring down on myself.

No, We had to hike there and un load the trucks so we could be shipped back. Went through Johnson valley, Through the hammers. They said 'hurry up' and we were doing so, It slipped and out of their hands and took me and another down. I hit the ground and he was lucky to be caught by people behind him.
