I didn't look through the forums so much but now that I know that I will. Haha. I read some boxing articles and tried out some new plyometrics excercies that I found on the one site. I love jumping. Haha. :D

i knew you'd like the boxing site :)

hill sprints are killer when done full on...great way to push your mind through mental barriers especially adding in exercises like burpees at the top of the hill

can't wait for the summer so i can do them again. don't know when i'll be able to sprint with my ankle, which is why i'm saying the summer

Awwww... I hope your ankle gets better soon!

I was in track for a year and I hated it... our coach was hardcore and would make us run up this huge hill about 20 times in a row every day. It seemed torture then but you know... I think I would actually enjoy it now. Maybe not twenty times in a row though. :D

see, you guys must have been burnt out...hill sprints are pretty CNS intensive. you need to allow your body to rest before doing much CNS intense exercises/and allow yourself to build up to doing it more frequently, maybe 2-3 days a week...thats full hard sprints up a hill.

Yeah, our coach didn't know the meaning of the word moderation. That's why so many people, including me, didn't join the track team again in that school. And yeah that makes sense.

Oh... speaking of taking breaks, is there anything wrong with working out, just regular work outs every day or do you need to take breaks at all with that?

well, it really depends on how hard you've been working and what type of workouts you are doing.

i like splitting it up, so that i can do accessory/corrective/prehab/rehab type stuff on days that i'm not really working out. some days i do mini workouts, like just abs and lower back.

maybe a 4 day week of workouts (M,W,F,S) and have tues, thurs, sunday off , but have those days to just to do mini workouts or corrective exercises to get active healing...

Yeah...gotcha. Well the one thing I have been breaking from is working my abs. I think it's bad to work them hard every single day.

yea, there just like every other muscle...don't need to work them everyday...

when you are exercising, make sure you brace your "core" - *coaching cues* stand tall, chest high, stick your butt out a little bit - this will actively engage your "abs" while exercising...pay attention to those coaching cues about

have you done any type of planks? those are great to building up the core muscles.

just focus on the coachin cues and you'll be fine. standing tall with chest high, and sticking your butt out a little bit...just practice that before you begin an exercise to feel the bracing and engagement

Have not done planks.. will look them up. And yeah focusing on that helps... sometimes when I do jumping excercises though I lose form in the process and have a problem landing in form. But I try. :)
