...and MTV came about in the 80's - back when they actually played music videos. These days I can't watch MTV; it's just a bunch of "reality shows" and crap. Other than on-line, there's no good place to catch videos anymore.
I was lucky to have been in the right place, at the right time, and at the right age back in the 80s. It was a whole new world for me. I got my first apartment. I got cable and discovered MTV. Then there was the coke and acid. I had a Don Johnson style suit with a gangster fedora hat, and poiny shoes (pretty much a zoot suit) that i went clubbing in. My favorite club was Zazoos. Almost everybody had a corona with a lime on top. People were snorting coke in the bathroom. It was like living in a movie. I even had a van that was fixed up for sex. Too many good memories to write down. I had an awesome time! And the music was great too. Anyone remember this vid? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lqn5AIdd-9k"]YouTube- Madness - Our House
Most songs from the 80s i associate with the videos. It was better than just listening to the songs, to me anyway. Most of the vids were really good.
Honestly and definitely the absolute worst decade in rock history and pop history!!!! Juat look at that YMCA - oriented crap they called "disco music".......an OFFENCE to TRUE music
But YMCA was released back in the late 70s https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CS9OO0S5w2k"]YouTube- YMCA Hotwater
Yes, of course the late 70s, but that crappy tune and Disco Duck started the damage that dragged well into the 80s.....luckily New Wave came along (Knack, Blondie, etc.) a and cleaned all that sh*t up for good
i feel like the people born in the eras before the 80s felt like how we feel about the LADY GAGA INVASION. Expect a million times worse.
I'm glad to be relating with you all here! Look, I come from very far away in rockland.....let's say Little Richard?! ....most of you won't even know who is is!! Anyway, while Village People and Passengers killed the music, Lady GaGa is not really that bad....I mean, there are worse "singers" out there like J-Lo!!!
I feel that right now is always the best time for music, because you can listen to the new stuff and everything else that has been recorded up to that time. In the 80s, I listened to music from the 80s, 70s, and 60s, in addition to classical. My tastes are all over the place. I can listen to Mozart, John Denver, Van Halen, Louis Armstrong, and Lady Gaga in the same afternoon, and enjoy it all. It's all good to me.
The 80's... bad!? Tell that to my shoulder pads! But seriously, I think the music of the 80's was pretty good. I love The Smiths and Prince more than most, and they come from such the era. I personally think although some aspects of this era are in fact pretty awful, it's generally an underrated time. The 70's for example, overrated. Some great stuff, some bad stuff. But dare you say anything negative about this decade, God no.
Never liked The Smiths or Morrissey at all....too wimped out....but Prince is another bella ringin' in my ears
In my opinion, the 80s did very little if noithing at all to elaborate music...luckily the 90s came along and wiped out the conservative 80s when grunge came along!
