4 of 4...After dewaxing and braids are out Technically my locks are only 5ish months old if I count from when I started over. But there are some wax vs non wax for ya.
Wow, that really helpped out mamamojo! Those looked super waxy, thanks for taking your time to post that
ouch, if yer not a poster child for nonwaxing, ive never seen one. glad to see you got yer hair how ya want it now..
BEESWAX man! that's what the lady told me to use, raunchy, right? I did it lie 3x a day for a month and once a day for like 3 weeks thereafter...UGH!!
damn brayingdonkey, i cant belive how much yours grew in four years, Im at about the length u started, and your tips are pretty rad too
I used wax I think it was a good thing for the first few weeks. Then it seemed to do more harm than good and I stopped. After say, 1.5 months wax just softened the dreads so they could fall apart easier.....I had to restart them a few weeks after i started because I bought a motorhome that caught on fire and flying too close to the sun on wings of waxy dreadlocks, they melted, got all thin and stretched out, and I had to completely backcomb them again to get them chunky like I wanted. on another note, if you are OCD like me, you might want to reconsider dreads. I spend every free second of my day sometimes trying to get every last wandering strand back into my dreads. I love them anyway though. I have had them 11.5 months. Wow. What a difference! Well, you have beautiful locks now mama. It must have felt sooo gross to have that on your head.
just wanted to share this picture. this isnt one of my dreads, just someone i knew who had cut theirs off. he started with wax... and some others...
Yeah, those photos are pretty worthless unless we know the details. edit: Not completely worthless (as they obviously demonstrate the darker side of wax) but not very helpful because we don't know anything about those "locks."
Dude, it did feel gross...especially compared to now. I am certain I got all the wax out when I started over. But yeh, I believe that wax can be gross up in a dread.
Yes, I do think the jury's still out on the wax situation (I'm not defending it btw). And to me in the last two pics it looks like quite some amounts of wax in there.
no wax ever i just figured out why brayingdonkeys such an asshole though and why hes been such a dick from his 1st post hes scatteredleaves boyfreind whos been a dick all along im not saying hes a dick cause hes her bf ..just that hes been an assshiole even before he started posting you want to know the truth about wax its disgusting it builds up and never comes out (even after years) it traps dirt and leads to mold it slows the dread process by gluing hair together so it cant move and knot braying donkety loves to contradict popular opinions just to lead to arguments if youir smart you'll disregard everything he says think for yourself its wax it doesnt belong in haor itswaterproof so is extremely hard to remove there is noything good about it at all
Why isn't it ok to talk about one's experience if it doesn't match with the majority's? Howcome I don't get a load of asshole accusations for always standing firmly by the fact that I found elastic bands to be very helpful?
