I used wax I think it was a good thing for the first few weeks. Then it seemed to do more harm than good and I stopped. After say, 1.5 months wax just softened the dreads so they could fall apart easier.....I had to restart them a few weeks after i started because I bought a motorhome that caught on fire and flying too close to the sun on wings of waxy dreadlocks, they melted, got all thin and stretched out, and I had to completely backcomb them again to get them chunky like I wanted. on another note, if you are OCD like me, you might want to reconsider dreads. I spend every free second of my day sometimes trying to get every last wandering strand back into my dreads. I love them anyway though. I have had them 11.5 months.

    P. S. Had a lot of trouble getting a normal pic to show like everyone else without using imageshack??

I didn't melt it in, I just rubbed it on. The only heat it got was a periodic shower LOL

^^^ Do you know how long they had them for? And how often they used wax at all?

Yeah, those photos are pretty worthless unless we know the details.

edit: Not completely worthless (as they obviously demonstrate the darker side of wax) but not very helpful because we don't know anything about those "locks."

Dude, it did feel gross...especially compared to now. I am certain I got all the wax out when I started over.

But yeh, I believe that wax can be gross up in a dread.

Yes, I do think the jury's still out on the wax situation (I'm not defending it btw). And to me in the last two pics it looks like quite some amounts of wax in there.

Why isn't it ok to talk about one's experience if it doesn't match with the majority's?

Howcome I don't get a load of asshole accusations for always standing firmly by the fact that I found elastic bands to be very helpful?
