Mama, I just looked at the pictures again and I want to get my hands on your hair and wash it!! I know it's passed, but I just can't believe it. What did the little ones think about mama's greasy look? I'm sure they appreciate the new look much better. My children are just starting to have fun batting them when I bend down to help with shoes, etc.

Amy, Now that my dreads are over a month old and the ends are falling out, I can appreciate why the elastics would really benefit those with straight hair. I'm going for wispy ends, but some dreads now are 1 inch knot, 5 inches straight. lol Oh these dreads are a mystery.

i really couldnt tell ya. the one pic with the rounder dread in it was maybe a year old or so when it was cut off. I have no idea about any other details. but really, i dont think ANY amount of wax is ok. i've seen people use "just a little bit" for whatever reason (cause they think it might help in some way) and then wind up regretting it down the road.

and rubber bands.... with my first set of dreads, a few bands had been swallowed up by the hair. fast forward about three years, these little worm-looking things were coming out of the tips of those dreads. with a tweezers, i pulled out the pieces (wasnt just one band anymore, it was all rotten and gross and came apart) and the whole tip came undone. think about not having those bands on/in for three years. those dreads would have been solid. but instead they were undreaded at the tips. i didnt care either way, just saying what happened.

there really isnt anything you can "do" to your hair to have awesome dreads. the less you do, the better they'll be. it's very easy not to do something...

Daisy, they really were gross. I had to pour pots of boiling water over my hair on a few diff occasions. Then I had an unbraiding party with friends, used more boiling water, did a cleanse, used orange oil, baking soda, lemon juice, you name it! My hair felt totally normal before I let them lock up again. But the wax seriously ruined a few of my shirts from where my hair laid on my back. The kids dig them now, not so much back then.

some of my dreads are the same and they'll be 6mos at the end of April..especially the two front ones-about one inch knot and 10inches plain old hairr! Just think how beautiful it will look when they get long long longgg! At least they're knotting up at top!

Do you have naturally curly or straight? It's funny because the two dreads closest to my face are the most dreaded down to the tips. :S There really are no rules that dreads adhere to (kinda like children ;))

mine are curly and are knotting so fast and soo close to my scalp... it's painful in some places. mostly the dreads with beads that slide around and cause a lot of friction and breakage. i'm having to battle to keep my wispy ends, seriously... some of them want to get sucked in, but i won't have it :p

I'm a bit confused by this. Do you mean that he didn't actually use wax? Or do you mean he did use wax but those pictures showing his dreads being ok and not having been ruined by wax are faked somehow?

Aaaaah I get it now :D So let me get this straight...you did have dreads and you used wax but it wrecked them and you had to shave them off, and now you pretend to have sweet dreads and no wax problems

    or

You never actually had dreads and your purpose in life is to make shit up that's always the opposite of the majority's experience and fob it off as good advice and cause arguments with it?

    :p Finally I get it :p
