Gotta love that jello feeling. It gets better faster than you would think... My strength built up pretty quick, I'm sure yours will too. I don't think there is any "doing it wrong" with Kundalini yoga. You just do the best you can, and as time passes you get better. Even if you don't lose oodles of weight(it's hard to do while baby-baking anyway) I'm positive that it will tone you up... That jello feeling you got is proof. *hehe* It works muscles you forgot you ever had. And any toning you do will result in extra calories burnt... I read somewhere that ten pounds of muscle burns of a Big Mac every day. Gain a couple pounds of muscle with this stuff and you'll be doing good! Definitely check out the classes, or get a video... I think it will help you out alot with feeling like you are doing it "right". It helps to see someone else do it, and if you had a class your instructor could offer advice on the stuff you are already doing. To answer your questions the best I can... When it comes to your pelvic muscles hurting, I don't think it's bad so long as it's not "bad" if that makes sense. There's the "cranking up a rusty muscle" hurt and "shredded something that ought to be in one peice" hurt. Also, take into account joint and ligament looseness that comes with being preggers, and those sharp growing pains that come in the first couple months... You just exercised and increased bloodflow to an area where lots of ouchy stuff was already going on. If it gets too painful, I'd wait until you start a class and can ask someone who nows better than me, but if you can work through it and it doesn't bother you too much it's probably just your body getting back in motion. It might help to concentrate on making your movements deliberate. If your mind is right on the muscle as it moves, you'll know if you are doing too much. Oh girl! Don't worry about your back being straight on those ones that stretch your legs! You are stretching the long sciatic nerves along the back of your legs and those ones are toughies... You'll have to work up to getting lower and straighter. Go as far as you can, you should feel challenged each time you do it... Eventually it won't be as hard. While you are deep breathing, focus on stretching a little further on the exhale, it works like magic. I definitely don't think that your legs need to be straight on that hip rotating exercise... Your legs are gonna go where your hips go, they can't help it. *haha* Your hips are probably the part that supposed to do all the work, so keep that in mind if you find yourself pivoting from your knees or arms. The breathing will help keep you where you are supposed to be... Yoga is magical stuff. The people who thought it up thousands of years ago knew what they were doing... The deep focused breathing somehow hones in on the body movement in each specific exercise. Like I said, it took me a while to get the hang of it, and when you get the hang of it you'll know what I mean. *smile* That's so cute about Leane painting your face! That is smart! It's amazing what babies pick up through osmosis... If she watches you do it, she'll be mimicking you before you know it. Leo's old enough now to think that he's being conned into doing something silly, but as long as I didn't try to push it on him he would stand off to the side and try it himself. I think little kids do yoga anyway... Us adults just forget how to be loose and uninhibited and full of movement. We need to be reminded how.
good news! I called the yoga place here in town, and there's prenatal classes!!!!!! It's still realatively new (started up in September), so the word isn't totally out yet about them and the classes aren't huge, but I guess that's a good thing, eh? I'm so excited!!! It's $110 for 9 weeks, which really isn't bad at all. Some of the other places that I have been looking into for regular classes want $75-$100/month! yey, I'm so happy I found it! I'm starting up toward the end of April, and until then, I'm going to be doing the other exercises daily. These classes are also only every Sunday, so I'll be doing those other ones throughout the week at home, along with the ones I learn in class. So yeah, I wanted to let you know that! yey! Me so happy! lol Man, am I ever soar today, though! OWEEE! I pulled some nasty muscle in my neck, though, and it's hurtin pretty bad, lol
yay kirstyn! I'm so excited for you!! I only wish I had been that motivated during my pregnancy! lol It's kinda hard to get into it this late in the game. Best of luck with the classes!
Wow! That's awesome that you found those classes. And that's really affordable. Even the yoga classes(no prenatal *sniff*) offered in my little podunk town are more expensive than that. I t6hink small classes would be better... More comfortable. And you get a chnace to watch the class grow as more people join, seeing as it's relatively new. Very awesome. Daily! Wowza, you are ambitious. I salute you on that, but don't be afraid to take a break if you need it... Muscles do need breaks in order to build up after exercise. That soreness feels great though, doesn't it? Let's ya know you're makin some real progress. These exercises do have lots more neck movement than the ones I started out with, I can understand how you might pull a muscle. Ow! Just take it easy on your neck for the next few days... I find when I hold my neck funny(I have a nerve that likes to pinch every few months) I end up holding my whole body funny. All in all, BRAVO! You are doing such a good job!
