Weight Loss?

    I think maybe you could take a run every morning, eating more fruit, eating organic, avoiding anything with 20 grams of fat. Avoid, soda, and sugarly juices, you can make you own juices with a juices and add little sugar, and IF you have to use sugar, try brown sugar. Another thing is try to eat food that are cooked in vegitable oil and a biggie for me and my friends is try to eat vergetarian or vegan. I'm vegan and I sugested the idea to my friend, who was complaining aboiut fitting into these jeans or something like that she lost just about 10 pounds but I dunno if it works for everyone. Try no to get stressed out and listen to some slow Jazz that is smooth if you can ok? Good luck pm me if you need more help.

    Kudos for your desire to lose the weight. I am 5'5" and weigh about 120 nowadays. I am a borderline diabetic. After I had my last child my weight ballooned up to 290lbs and I was sick and miserable. That was some years back. 1983 to be exact. I agree with what the rest have said. Nutrient dense foods are the key. Limit your fried foods. Whole grains. Raw veggies or lightly steamed. Fresh is best or frozen. Lots of fruit. I used to suck on a spoonful of frozen orange juice or a frozen banana ice cube to help curb my sugar cravings. But don't go HUNGRY. Do eat slowly and stop eating just as you start filling a sensation of fullness not until you are Full. Then just eat more often. You will train your stomach to need less food and it will shrink. If you are hungry...eat by all means. But eat food that is as nutrient dense as possible and the more healthy you get the more you feel like doing something and you will be more active. I used to walk to the store to shop for groceries and had a friend pick me up or take a cab. I also stood in front of the mirror buck naked every morning and told myself what a beautiful body I had and how much I loved myself and other positive affirmations. I did not change my lifestyle and my diet to lose weight.....I changed it to get "HEALTHY" and if I lost the weight so be it. But if I stayed fat at least I would be a healthy fat person and I could live with that. Of course as I got healthier by getting more exercise and eating healthier and having healthier attitudes about myself my body being infinitely wise and wonderfully built decided it did not need the excess poundage and it turned it all into energy. Then I became underweight which was just as bad. So, I had to reintroduce some calories in the form of fats and sugars and less lean meats occasionally to get to a maintenence level.

    Take it from someone who has been there and done that. Diets do NOT work. Lifestyle changes and new attitudes toward food and yourself DO work. I have a better figure now at almost 48 than I had when I was 18. I bike ride a lot when I have a bike and walk everywhere I can and I do some exercise routines but not every day and not faithfullly. I still stick to my rules about fried foods and junk foods and white flour most of the time. I try to drink lots of filtered water. I use a Pur pitcher. All the things that I used to find so yummy are just yuck now. When I was losing the weight my favorite dinner was a huge chef's salad with all the variety I could put into it. My kids ate the same only I gave them a few sides to increase their caloric intake to make sure they got the nutrients they needed.

    I don't know if this helped all I can do is share my experience and share my support in your endeavor to get healthier.

    I disagree that diets don't work. Some do. For instance, I follow South Beach diet guidelines, which is basically just a healthy way of eating overall. Some people who are used to fad diets NEED that kind of structure rather than just to be told to eat better. Though SB isn't really structured at all except that there's 2 main weight loss phases, but it's still mainly knowing how to eat healthy and sticking to it.

    Personally, I eat extremely well but don't eat fruit (or at least I won't for another month or so until they stop giving me horrible cravings for sugar, and as a compulsive overeater I can't risk it), only eat whole grains, and don't have any sugar or dairy. I don't have dairy mostly because I am allergic, but also because the more I read about dairy, the more it scares me.

    I've found the key to eating well is not to eat salads. I make lots of Indian food which is great for you. I could eat my palak paneer for all meals. And don't starve yourself. In fact, if you're eating healthy and getting the right amount of veggies, you should have a hard time eating enough!
