Yay! I'm so happy for you guys, Kirstyn! He's absolutely gorgeous, perfect in every way! Happy baby-moon to you!
lol, thanks, i know I need to slow down now. Cody's mom has been here...she helps out a bit, but for the most part, sits on her bum watching TV. Cody has already gone back to work, since there was a huge mess up with his hours before Xavier was born. And we lost some other money that we had coming in, too, for the next couple months (stupid ass gov't), so he's been having to work to make up the extra couple bucks we're missing out on. So, I have had to watch Leane mainly. She hasn't been too bad, but any time I leave her with Cody's mom, she doesn't get fed at all, doesn't get drinks, and his mom thinks it's "gross" to change her. So yeah, that tells ya where that stands. Oy. I kinda had a feeling that would happen, though. Last night was a little harder on us. My milk came in and he's been a lot more alert. He fed every hour or so for abotu 20 to 30 minutes during the day, which is all good...but by about 7 pm, he was constantly at my boob, very fussy, and had complete liquid poops that were being blown out like canons. By 2 am, Cody convinced me to gve him a soother because my boobs hurt so bad and he konked out until 4, when he started to eat and pass out beside me again like he has since day one. Then this morning, he had a nice chunky poop again. I know he;s getting lots of milk, the kid is peeing and pooping up a storm, I just don't know why he was so fussy. When I would latch him on by about 1 am, he would get frustrated and keep slipping off onto my nipple, which is why I caved for giving him the soother. Seemed like all he wanted was something to suck on and it worked, but I HAAAAAATE using one. i wanted to stay away from anything artificial....but I;m not too sure what else I should do. The public health nurse and the midwives told me that a soother won't hurt nursing (and from what I have seen, his latch is still perfecto), it's just relying on something fake to comfort him...but I can't have him sucking on my actual nipple either, or that's going to cause bigger issues.
landon was the same way and I reluctantly gave him a pacifier after a couple days too. He just CONSTANTLY wanted to suck on something. my mistake though was that we didn't have breastfeeding down completely. I'd say just trust your mama instincts. it sounds like breastfeeding is going really well for you.
thanks again everyone I just can't get over how wonderful this little guy is!!!! oh, and the soother stuff i was talking abt the other day is all resolved now too. i think he was just having a rough day, i was sore cuz the engorgment, and it was just not good for either of us. Anyhow, its all going great again, and i'm pleased to say, the kid hates the suckie anyway lol! we went in for our 1 week check up, and he's up to 8 lbs 1 oz from 7 lbs 6 oz!!!! the midwife said that is just awesome for a breastfed baby! yey! i'll get some more pics up soon too, he's already changed so much!
