Didn't realize you were UK. Hey by the time this war is over the enlistment age cutoff will probably be raised to 70.
*cough* Well you could be right, doubtful....but you..... heck that is just crazy. I could retire before i even enlist. I can relax and take my time in thinking it over, if you are correct.
N.Y. Congressman Charles Rangel ( Dem. ) is the biggest proponent of The Draft in Congress. He had submitted draft legislation for a floor vote in 2005.
Politicians like to do these things right after an election, since it puts the most distance between it and the next election, and they hope that people will forget who made the decision by then. Besides, it's not an escalation. It's only a surge. Right? As Rowan and Martin once said on Laugh-In back in the 60s: "Let's get out of Vietnam and bring our 2 million 'advisors' home." .
You boomers are like a thorn inserted into my eyeball (gardener is an exception to this rule). Now let's hear all the defensive replies!!
Didn't we go through all this already? From last year: Bush's bold new plan to win in Iraq, Dec. 2005. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/11/30/AR2005113000164.html .
If everybody felt like that. This forum would be empty, pretty much. http://www.hipforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=176771 Was this your first post ?. Plus you did respond.
Oops. It's not an escalation or a surge. Condi Rice says it's an 'augmentation.' So now Iran is being officially labeled as the bad guy. The Bush failure in Iraq can now can be blamed on Iran and justifies military action against Iran. We need an augmentation of brain matter in DC. .
honestly though if they did bring back the draft........theycouldsuckmyballs j/k actually I'd be out in the streets first in line. It sucks though I did post another thread about the protest on the 27th but it looks as though I may not go mostly because of the money but second because I'm not feeling any commitment or concern about this unjust war, I know people don't want it but I guess it's just a feeling of malaise. which is kinda like a motto of mine "I was born in the wrong decade." maybe it's just because I live in a more conservative area. If you ever lived or known somebody who lived near southern Detroit you'd understand.
You weren't born in the wrong decade. You were born when you were meant to be born...karma. You have to try and be part of the moment. Stand up for what you love and believe in. My nephew said that same thing when he was eleven and saw Grease at the theatre...it had just come out. He was lucky while he was growing up there were no wars to be fought. He had a chance to grow up, marry and have kids all without having to be concerned about being seen as a hero in war. He's now a major destruction derby driver, he finally found his calling.
well maybe I was born at the right time , that's another discussion. but still I just can't shake the feeling that I'm always a day late and a dollar short. anyway I don't think it's just about missing the 60's, it's about missing the 20th century. Even a bunch of people I know have that feeling. Similar to what I've heard about the 70's. I once heard Ray Manzerak (keyboardist from the doors) say "we were living on the coast. The end of western civilization, across the ocean was Vietnam, India, Buddhism. We couldn't go any farther without starting over." I thought what a feeling that might be like to experience but now I guess it's kinda like that nowadays with the internet and technology. Or even in general, we all want what we don't have until it's gone. Oooh I almost forgot... gov. couldsuckmyballs
If everybody's "first" post was like this one then you're right, this place would be dead. "You boomers are like a thorn inserted into my eyeball (gardener is an exception to this rule). Now let's hear all the defensive replies!!"
Touche - the point being . Give the guy a break. Imagine if you will, not responding in the first place. I notice that person has not posted again. So i'm not going to argue the toss about him/her. I just thought it a little rude. Never mind atriot:
thank you so much for pointing this out because i have been saying it all along. Then agian no one except for my newspaper class listens to me because, what do i know?I'm just a 16 year-old girl with her head in the clouds and feet on the ground wishing for peace. Bush is such a selfish load of shit bathing in oil and blood. He is supposed to represent the American people yet he is so damn busy playing RISK with Iraq and getting more innocent lives taken away. We should band together, stand up and overthrow that ignorant scum of the earth. I'm sorry to say this but a draft will most likely be instated for my generation, so good luck fleeing to Canada boys, don't forget your passports. Thanks for that link AngelFaith.
