Just got info emailed to me from the Parks Department.

There are two Oregon State Parks in Southern Oregon.
Valley of the Rogue State Park is immediately off I-5, 12 miles East of Grants Pass. Valley of the Rogue offers 3 group tent areas, 25 people per area. The fee is $61 per night.

Joseph Stewart State Park is located 35 miles NE of Medford on Lost Creek Reservoir. Stewart offers 2 tent areas, 50 persons maximum per area. The fee is $61 per night for the first 25 persons, $2.40 for each additional.

Both parks offer hot showers, flush toilets and firewood for sale.

I looked up both on the net:

    Valley of the Rogues:

There are three group site camping areas available, with 25 people per area.

Here's a list of everything available within a 20 mile radius:
    http://www.reserveamerica.com/jsp/commonpage.jsp?goto=/usa/or/rogu/newpkserv.html

    Joseph Stewart State Park:

List of everything available within 20 miles:

So now that we have it narrowed down to 2 parks, we need to decide which one we choose. So we can make reservations. Please weigh in with your thoughts ASAP, so we can muck through this.

Also, I still think we should be PMing forumers that live on the west coast to let them know what's going on. Some don't frequent enough, or the right forums, to know what's happening...

It would be nice to hear from someone who had been to OR campgrounds to tell us what they are like.

    Yeah, that's what I'm thinking...

But if that won't happen, I do have some info and pictures coming to me about both of the campsites. Should be here in a matter of days. I'll post what I can, to show everyone, so we can get a vote.

Okay. I got the mailed information from the Oregon Parks Department.

Those two parks in southern Oregon are going to be about as good as we can get as far as accessiblilty to 1-5 and being reachable from California and upper Washington/Canada.

Information on Valley of the Rogues:
I-5, 12 miles East of Grants Pass (and 17 miles West of Medford) on the Rogue River; (541) 582-3128
    98 full hook-up, 48 electrical, 21 tent; maximum site, 75 feet; 23 pull-through sites; 6 yurts; group tent (3 areas)
special features: all sites upgraded to 50 amps; meeting hall; 1 and 3/4 mile interpretive trail; group picnic; reservations, program area, wildlife viewing area, fishing sites
FEATURES: tents, yurts, reservable, year-round camping, hot showers, dump sites, restrooms, picnicking, fishing, boat ramps, hiking, interpretive trails
    From Portland, Oregon: 265 miles

    Information on Joseph H. Stewart:
OR 62, 35 miles NE of Medford and 36 miles SW of south entrance to Crater Lake National Park; overlooks Lost Creek Reservoir; (541) 560-3334
151 electrical, 50 tent; maximum site 80 feet; group tents (2 areas)
Special Features: boat ramp with access for fishing, waterskiing and other water sports; marina and store; 11 and 1/2 miles of paved hiking trails and bike paths; group picnic reservations
FEATURES:tent, hot showers, dump sites, restrooms, picnicking, fishing, boat ramps, swimming, hiking, bike trails
    From Portland, Oregon: 271 miles

Basically, from what I can see, the Valley park is bigger and closer to I-5.

But the Stewart Park has more for families to do, mainly swimming. The other park doesn't have that. Plus, it's smaller, so there's less of a chance of disturbing/being disturbed by others. It's also more spaced out, if I have the pictures straight.

We need to start making decisions so reservations can be made. We don't want others stealing our sites! :D

AND SEND THE WORD AROUND! PM FORUMERS THAT YOU KNOW LIVE ON THE COAST!

We'd love to have anyone that would show up, Fjor. Especially if you're bringing a good spirit and fun times to share.

So yeah, you should plan on coming. If you don't, that's fine. But we'd love to meet ya! :D

I used to live in the Reno/Tahoe area. I wish I still did, haha. Definitely better than living in arkansas.

man I wish people lived in nova scotia .... I've searched this entire province for people and the closest I came to people was a bag of garbage left by pilgrims before they realized no one was here and left:(

A gathering would be great but let's face it, we can't all make it to any one special event. I've just started updating the special summertime events & festivals thread in my Northwestern U.S. forum, check it out and keep arranging to meet at different events throughout the summer! http://hipforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=4616

I've been an East Coaster all my life, but it looks as though I'm going to be switching oceans in the next few weeks. I'll be up near Portland Oregon, looking for people with interests similar to my own. If anyone knows of any local hotspots I should check out, send me a PM. Looking for the crowd of ganja-incensed, saucer-eyed kids, so somebody let me know what's up.
